📍 Fort Mountain State Park, Chatsworth, GA Members of the Georgia Active Club hiked in Fort Mountain State Park, placing promotional materials in the process. After reading Governor Sevier’s 1810 letter, the one where the Cherokee chief described pale Welsh settlers raising stone works in these mountains long before the Cherokee came to North Georgia, Fort Mountain feels different. The old wall on the ridge, said to have been built as protection against the ancestors of the Cherokee, lines up with the legend more than we expected.
