In April 1939, the Wolfe Tone Weekly, edited by former SF leader (1931–33) Brian O’Higgins, published an article which railed against “Godless, soulless, murderous and hypocritical international finance” and extolled Hitler for having “kicked out international finance.” It asked rhetorically when Ireland would follow suit, before concluding that it was “high time to restore the Republic and give life to the people.” The same newspaper in December 1937 carried a conspiratorial article which mirrored O’Duffy’s own sentiments: “The Bankers—Jews and Freemasons and their allies—the makers of war, of Communism, of Capitalism, of Imperialism, of every anti–Christian force in the world. They own Ireland.”

Coolock showed the way. I was at the Coolock protests too. Malachy turned up one day trying to do the same but was quickly told where to go, he never came back. Coolock did more in 1 day to stop the colonisation of Ireland than marxist Malachy has done in 4 years.
