The road to hell has almost finished construction.
Scientists have already managed to teach biocomputing-brains to play Doom through an AI that would send signals depending on the game state. This begs the question: how ethical is this? Is the brain conscious, considering it shows responses like distress?
Of course, technophiles and technocrats funding this don't give a rat's ass about ethics. As long as no serious damage is done to the System, they're fine crossing EVERY red line, even the line of "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream".

Light pollution is, objectively, yet another consequence of industrial technology forcibly dragging people out of their natural habitats and putting them into artificial walled cities - rat utopias with everything you could ever want and nothing that you actually need.
Subjectively, the death of the night sky presents a sort of final cutting of ties with the natural world. Before the advent of electricity, every single person on Earth, no matter the continent or the millennium, could marvel at the sight of the very same Milky Way. Well, not anymore. So it goes.
Even if (and this is quite a stretch) technology somehow progresses in a way that reduces light pollution enough for the night sky to be "revived", the bigger picture still stands. If we keep going like this, technology will sooner or later sever every connection between humanity and wild Nature.
