NEW: A homeless dog that was found wandering the streets of Deming, NM, then rescued from a high-kill shelter after she was put on a euthanasia list has a new lease on life after she graduated from the U.S. Border Patrol's Canine Academy in El Paso, TX. "Chloe" is now serving as a Border Patrol K-9 based out of Louisiana and also works as a Critical Incident Response Canine for CBP after completing a five-week training course. She also provides emotional support at local hospitals.
CBP statement:
βChloeβs journey is a powerful reminder that with patience, purpose and a second chance, extraordinary things are possible,β said Miguel Carrillo, U.S. Border Patrol agent, and Chloeβs handler. βShe is serving those who serve our nation, and her work is already making a meaningful difference.β
