Just watched the movie Backrooms. I will not give away the plot but I did find something interesting to share. When the movie starts the date 19 June 1990 is flashed on the screen. That date is 35 years ago from 2026. June 19 was the 170th day of the year in 1990. It occurred in week 25 that year. The Julian calendar date would be June 6, 1990. The end date flashed in the movie was 29 June 1990. 10 days pass in the film. The company name is called Async. Async is a programming concept. The code is sometimes called Async/await. Phil basically posted an AI movie with him as the lead actor. Central casting anyone? I bet he worked on it with his team over the last week. He was supposed to go Live Sunday night. I don’t think he ever planned on going Live that night. I’m thinking the video wasn’t “perfect” to air. Phil’s movements while at his desk were very different from his “human” Lives. I don’t think AI has perfected fluid human movement. So Phil did not move a lot as he talked. His speech pattern was different as well. When you read from a well rehearsed script there are no pauses for intermittent thought. No interjected phrases or “silly” words that can be comms. Phil was in sharper focus than his background. His non AI Lives show items in the background more clearly. There was a 2 camera set up when Phil moved to the “studio” area. The number of edits changing camera directions was just a little too much. It was obvious he was in a professional studio as his mic worked perfectly. I’m quite impressed that the feed actually worked from half a world away. Was that because prerecorded video feed can be stabilized? 🤷‍♀️ But did you catch the overriding story “arc?” Phil is showing us he is moving on from Live streamer to full time creator and businessman. He literally got into a car to drive away from his “old life” hitting the road for new adventures. Not one of his expensive fancy cars. But a car that to me resembled a SS security style SUV. I think the car scene was edited in because the Live ended abruptly as if the green screen wasn’t large enough to show the car driving out of the studio. Dimitri drives up in the car and says to Phil “Phil, come on, we need to go.” Phil responds “I guess I got to go.” Why that dialogue? “We need to go.” Literally or figuratively?
