Telling the Time⌚️
There are two common ways of telling the time.
1) Say the hour first and then the minutes. (Hour + Minutes)
6:25 - It's six twenty-five
8:05 - It's eight O-five (the O is said like the letter O)
9:11 - It's nine eleven
2:34 - It's two thirty-four
2) Say the minutes first and then the hour. (Minutes + PAST / TO + Hour)
For minutes 1-30 we use PAST after the minutes.
For minutes 31-59 we use TO after the minutes.
2:35 - It's twenty-five to three
11:20 - It's twenty past eleven
4:18 - It's eighteen past four
8:51 - It's nine to nine
2:59 - It's one to three
When it is 15 minutes past the hour we normally say: (a) quarter past
7:15 - It's (a) quarter past seven
When it is 15 minutes before the hour we normally say: a quarter to
12:45 - It's (a) quarter to one
When it is 30 minutes past the hour we normally say: half past

We use o'clock when there are NO minutes.

Asking for the Time
The common question forms we use to ask for the time right now are:

A more polite way to ask for the time, especially from a stranger is:

Giving the Time
We use It is or It's to respond to the questions that ask for the time right now.
It is half past five (5:30).
It's ten to twelve (11:50)
We use the structure AT + time when giving the time of a specific event.
English pronunciation guide
The bus arrives at midday (12:00).
The flight leaves at a quarter to two (1:45).
The concert begins at ten o'clock. (10:00)
We can also use subject pronouns in these responses.

We don't normally use the 24-hour clock in English.

🎯 1. don't aim for perfect — aim for clear.
‼️ a lot of students freeze because they want perfect grammar, however, examiners don't expect perfect, instead they want to understand you.
instead of saying “i am.. how to say.. the things is..” you guys could try “what i'm trying to say is..”
💡keep talking, even it it's just a simple words.
🧠 2. use the “PEE technique (super useful!)
🗣 when answering :-
• point – state your idea
• explain – give reason
• example – add example
example : “i think social media is useful (point) because it helps people communicate easily (explain), for example, students can discuss homework through whatsapp (example).”
💡 this makes your answer sound structured and smart instantly.
🗣 3. train your “thinking voice”.
‼️ DON'T stay silent when thinking, fill the gap naturally by saying :-
“that's an interesting question..”
“let me think for a moment..”
“in my opinion..”
💡 this shows confidence, not weakness.
🔑 4. use simple but strong vocabulary.
you don't need bombastic words, just upgrade slightly :
• good → beneficial
• bad → harmful
• very important → crucial
• many → numerous
💡 one or two strong words already impress.
👀 5. eye contact + body language (VERY important)
• look at the examiner (stare straight into their souls 🙏🏻)
• sit straight
• don’t fidget too much
💡 you can have average english, but still score high with confidence.
⏱ 6. expand your answers (don't be too short)
❌ “yes, i agree.”
✅ “yes, i agree because it helps people save time, for example..”
💡 always give at least 2–3 sentences.
🔥 7. practice like it's real.
try this daily :
• talk to yourself in english (yes, for real)
• describe what you're doing, such as “right now, i am preparing for my exam..”
💡 it might feels weird, but it works FAST.
✨ bonus : magic phrases to sound fluent ✨
use these in your test :
• “from my perspective..”
• “one of the main reasons is..”
• “another point worth mentioning is..”
• “for instance..”

It's sir qiy here 💕💕 so sir just nk bagi sedikit kata-kata semangat since tomorrow result spm keluar for batch 08.
Jadi, sir sendiri bukan budak pandai macam yang korang fikir, maybe some of you think that "sir nak jadi sir, mesti sebab sir pandai" "sir mesti hebat sebab tu boleh ajar orang"..noo, sir sendiri bukan budak pandai, tapi alhamdulillah result spm sir tiada yang gagal dan semua lulus dan bagi sir sangat bagus untuk diri sir sendiri..
Sir bukan budak sains tulen, sir hanya ambil sains komputer, pertanian dan ekonomi sahaja sewaktu spm. Jadi sir nak ingatkan kat sini, jangan rasa rendah diri kalau kamu bukan budak sains tulen, sebab dalam kalangan kita yang dianggap budak pandai hanyalah yang ambil sains tulen. Sir akui memang bagus ambil sains tulen, tapi bukan semua orang memang akan sambung bidang tu atau melanjutkan perjalanan dia sebagai seorang doktor. Ada segelintir pelajar yang ambil bidang lain sewaktu diploma dan seterusnya. Jadi, apa yang kamu belajar dan jawab sewaktu spm, itu adalah apa yang awak akan bawa di masa akan datang. Tidak kira subjek apa pun, semua tu hanyalah option untuk kamu sambung belajar.
Tugas kamu sekarang hanya fokus untuk sambung belajar dan bukan fikirkan masalah lain.
Sekarang sir sedang melanjutkan pelajaran Diploma in TESL. What is TESL? Teaching Of An English As A Second Language. Basically, course ini adalah untuk menjadi seorang guru, pensyarah dan lain-lain. Tapi, tidak semestinya kamu wajib menjadi guru, kamu boleh sahaja apply kerja lain untuk bidang ini.
Jadi sekadar peringatan, apa-apa keputusan kamu terima esok, terimalah dengan hati yang terbuka, dan reda dengan apa yang kamu dapat. Penanda peperiksaan itu dah tolong dengan sebaik mungkin untuk dapatkan markah yang selayaknya untuk kamu, jadi bersyukur dengan apa yang kamu dapat. Kalau kamu rasa apa yang kamu dapat itu tidak cukup, kamu usaha di peringkat seterusnya iaitu di peringkat diploma, tingkatan 6 atau mana-mana ipt yang kamu akan pergi.
Ingat, tiada orang yang akan gagal selama-lamanya. Malah, kegagalan tu yang akan buat kamu lebih kuat dan sedar bahawa kamu perlu berusaha lebih banyak dan kuat. Kalau rasa keputusan spm tidak memuaskan, kamu yang perlu ubah sikap kamu. Tapi, jangan pernah salahkan diri sendiri kerana tidak berjaya. Kuncinya adalah kamu perlu usaha lagi, dan bukan berhenti semata.
Perjalanan kamu masih jauh, walaupun beza umur kamu dengan sir hanya setahun, tapi sir faham perasaan sebagai seorang pelajar yang takut akan masa hadapan. Takut tidak berjaya, takut tidak mampu, takut tidak kuat..tapi kita perlu teruskan hidup walau bagaimana sekali pun.
Selagi kita hidup, selagi tu kita perlu belajar. Menimba ilmu itu sangatlah wajib untuk hidup.
Sir doakan semoga kamu semua tidak kira bangsa dan agama, semoga kamu dirahmati Allah, semoga kamu mendapatkan keputusan yang cemerlang dan memuaskan, semoga kamu dilapangkan dada dan reda untuk menerima apa sahaja keputusan dengan hati yang ikhlas.
Selepas dapat keputusan, ucap tahniah kepada diri sendiri, dan ucap terima kasih kepada diri sendiri, ucapkan "tahniah dan terima kasih kerana aku masih kuat dan masih mampu bertahan hidup demi belajar".
Kalau ada masa lapang, jumpa dan ucapkan terima kasih kepada guru-guru kamu yang telah beri ilmu, minta mereka halalkan semua nya kerana semua ilmi itu datangnya dari mereka walaupun kamu belajar sendiri. Mereka juga yang mendoakan kamu. Jadi jangan pentingkan diri.
