The fighter aircraft was reportedly flying from Jorhat when it is believed to have crashed in a remote area near Nilip Block under Chokihola.

Local residents said they heard a loud explosion around 7 pm, followed by thick smoke rising from the nearby hills. The incident reportedly triggered panic among villagers living in the surrounding areas. Sources indicate that the suspected crash site lies deep within the hilly terrain of Karbi Anglong, which may make access difficult for rescue teams.
