At 4:00 AM on August 23, suspected PLA cadres detonated roadside IEDs and opened fire on a 3 Assam Rifles patrol near Saibol, Tengnoupal. Forces retaliated, thwarting the ambush and injuring one jawan. Joint COBRA/AR combing operations are ongoing.

Fresh violence erupted in Manipur's Taphou area early Monday as miscreants torched a house in Taphou Kuki at 2:40 AM. Retaliatory attacks followed around 4:00 AM, damaging Poumai Naga homes near 9MR and Mareimei. Crossfire at 9:20 AM injured a CRPF sub-inspector. By Tuesday morning, CRPF COBRA units launched house-to-house combing operations to restore order.

On 22.08.2026, based on a credible intelligence, joint team of Thoubal CDO and AR launched a search ops in general area Lilong Ushoipoki during which a s/s Captain, Thiyam Boycha Singh alias Balin (28) a/p Bishnupur Ward No. 8 was arrested.
Through further questioning it was revealed that he was part of the team that ambushed the CO of 46 AR and 6 others in Behiang, Churachandpur on 13/11/2021.
He is A-3 in the case investigated by NIA and is a declared absconder.
