Do people change?
On the surface, it seems like there are just two possible answers: yes or no. However, if you ask someone, their response might vary depending on the context. One person could provide both answers at different times. For instance, if you ask them about their own growth over the years, they might say, "Yes, I've changed," reflecting on their evolving perspectives and behaviors. In this case, they'd affirm that people can change—unless they don't see themselves as human, which is a whole other discussion!
Now, if you shift the focus to others—like whether someone who hurt them deserves a second chance—they might flip their stance and say that people can't change. They might argue against the idea of second chances, especially in serious matters like the death penalty, suggesting that if people can change, then everyone deserves another opportunity.
