For those who didn’t make it this time, I wish to share something very personal with you all.
I remember lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to move. Two consecutive interview failures. Not one but two. The kind that don't just break your confidence, they make you question your entire existence.
The anxiety wasn't just in my head. It was in my bones. Some mornings I couldn't breathe. Some days I didn't eat. I just lay there, replaying every wrong answer, every wasted month, every person I had silently promised "I will make you proud."
Nobody tells you how lonely failure feels. How you smile at family dinners but die a little inside. How you open your books and just cry. For no one reason. For every reason.
But here I am. Still standing. Still bleeding. Still trying.
If you're in that bed right now, that same dark, suffocating bed I know so well, I'm not going to tell you it's okay. It's not okay right now. But you are not finished. Not even close.
Get up. Not for the exam. Get up for the version of you that refused to quit even when quitting felt like relief.
That person deserves to be seen.

GS MAINS CRUX - What is needed to score high marks in GS papers in mains.
This strategy is adopted from Akansh Dhull, Rank 3, CSE 2025.
UPSC Preparation Happens in Layers -
The preparation process can be visualized as progressing through multiple layers (L0–L6), where each stage builds upon the previous one.
L0: Self-Assessment and Foundation
This is the pre-preparation stage where an aspirant evaluates:
1.Strengths and weaknesses across subjects
2.Memory and recall capacity
3.Writing speed and articulation
The goal is to understand how you learn rather than immediately starting to study.
L1: Building Limited, Theme-wise Notes
At this stage, aspirants create concise notes and revise them repeatedly.
Key principles:
Notes should be theme-wise, not source-wise.
Example: "Cyclones", "Secularism", "Temple Architecture", "AI in Governance".
Restrict notes to 2–3 pages per topic.
The objective of L1 is to create a compact knowledge base that mirrors the format required in the examination hall.
L2: Data Analysis
This layer involves studying toppers' answer copies and identifying:
1.How they structure introductions and conclusions
2.The sequencing of arguments
3.Use of subheadings, diagrams, and flowcharts
The purpose is to understand what kind of answers fetch marks and modify one's notes accordingly.
L3: Value Addition
Once the basic notes are ready, they must be enriched with high-value content.
This includes:
1.Catchy introductions and conclusions
2.Relevant quotations
3.Committee recommendations
4.Reports and indices
5.Timelines and historical evolution
6.Global best practices
7.Flowcharts, diagrams
Case studies and examples
At this stage, ordinary notes evolve into exam ready notes that can differentiate an aspirant from the competition.
L4: Practice and Internalization
Knowledge alone does not translate into marks.
L4 focuses on:
Regular answer writing,
Simulating exam conditions,
Learning to identify the exact demand of a question,
Developing the ability to retrieve information instantly
The aim is to build muscle memory so that performance in the examination becomes automatic and predictable.
L5: Brainstorming and Source Mapping
At this stage, aspirants begin to think in terms of themes and interconnections.
For example:
Globalization can be broken into:
Economy
Markets
Women
Culture
Environment
Technology
Values
Similarly, a topic like Artificial Intelligence can be connected with:
Ethics
Employment
Governance
Education
Healthcare
National Security
Since most Mains questions ask about the impact of one phenomenon on another, this stage trains aspirants to create multidimensional answers.
L5 also includes:
Mapping sources
Comparing different institutes' material
Organizing current affairs theme-wise
Ensuring that no major issue is missed
L6: The Artistic Stage
This is the final stage where preparation transforms into intuition.
At L6:
Knowledge becomes highly condensed and interconnected.
Aspirants can effortlessly integrate:
Current affairs,Static concepts, Reports and data, Case studies, Interdisciplinary perspectives
Answers become:
Dense yet concise, Highly structured, Rich in value addition, Distinct from the average candidate
This is the stage where seemingly scattered knowledge comes together to produce what appears to be a "magical" answer, but is actually the outcome of years of systematic layering.
The above strategy if executed properly can ensure your entry into the 450 marks club in GS.

Some people often claim that UPSC tests mental strength by throwing a vague and ambiguous paper at aspirants. This year, it appears to have devised an even more effective test, making everyone wait indefinitely for the results.
The Chairman seems to be aiming for absolute perfection which is probably why the process is taking longer than expected.
No results today!

A beautiful essay that I have come across recently!
This essay is written by Mudit Faujdar, AIR-353 CSE 2025.
He has scored 150 in the Essay paper this year.
1.His skill of writing arguments that builds on the previous one is impressive. This is exactly what creates an intellectual momentum rather than a feeling of point by point checklist.
2.He has smartly added literary references like Orwell and Kipling which resonates the most with the examiner.
The examiners evaluating are generally English literature professors.
3.He has also stated that for a good writer, you should first be a good reader.I would also suggest that you read topper copies extensively to get some unique ideas.

For people who are scoring above 70 marks in Prelims and clearing CSAT, this post is for you.
For you guys these 10 days before the results are not a waiting period.
They are the most decisive 10 days in the entire mains prep cycle.
Ten days may sound insignificant but In reality, ten focused days can mean:
1- 50-100 answer-writing questions completed.
2- Multiple optional topics consolidated.
3- Ethics examples and case studies prepared.
4- Essay content enriched.
There is no downside to studying.
There is enormous downside to waiting.
Treat these 10 days as if your rank depends on them. Because one day, you may discover that it did.
Go full throttle 🔥

A week has passed since Prelims, and for many, it has felt longer than the entire year of preparation.
Multiple score calculations, predictions, cut-offs, CSAT debates, representations and endless speculation have taken a toll on aspirants.
Perhaps more exhausting than the exam itself were the questions that followed:
"How much are you scoring?"
"Even after so many years of preparation why are you still getting 60s/70s ?"
"What's your backup plan?"
If you've been navigating all of that, acknowledge it. It is not easy.
At some point, there is nothing more to calculate, explain, defend, or replay in your head. That absurd paper is behind you. The outcome is no longer in your hands.
What remains in your hands is how you treat yourself.
Do not reduce your worth to a few marks on an uncertain exam. Do not convince yourself that one result defines the effort, discipline, sacrifices, and resilience you showed over the past year.
For those comfortably clearing, channel your energy towards Mains.
For those who may not make it this time, remember that a result can close an attempt, but it does not close your potential.
This examination asks a lot from people. Sometimes it rewards them, sometimes it doesn't. But showing up year after year, despite uncertainty, is a form of courage that deserves recognition.
So today, instead of questioning whether you did enough, remind yourself that you gave what you could under the circumstances you had.
The list will come when it comes.
Until then, rest a little. Reconnect with life outside this exam. The future is still being written.
And whatever happens next, don't forget this:
You were brave enough to try.
That counts for more than you think.
Always there for you beautiful people! ❤️

UPSC Prelims 2026 was chaos brothers, utter chaos.
Full scale ambush of human sanity.

Absolute menace of a paper.

Hello beautiful people!
This is for everyone feeling anxious in the last stretch before Prelims!
Having studied Psychology as my optional for multiple CSE attempts, I know this feeling intimately not just from textbooks, but from lived experience. The anxiety that creeps in during these final days is real, and it is hard.
So let me share two techniques I genuinely rely on, backed by multiple research and tested personally:
1. The Physiological Sigh - Take a deep breath in and fill your lungs completely then sneak in just a little more air. Now exhale through mouth. That double inhale + exhale instantly resets your nervous system.Attaching a youtube link for reference
If you find this difficult you can Alternatively: Inhale for 4 seconds, exhale for 8. Do it 2–3 times. You'll feel the shift.
2. Progressive Muscle Relaxation - If anxiety is showing up in your body, tight chest, restless legs, inability to sleep then this is for you. Tense and release each muscle group from toe to head, one by one. It will work the best when done before you sleep.
I’m attaching a Youtube link here for this.Put your earphones in and follow the video.
In the final days, don’t fight your mind aggressively. Calm your body and trust your preparation.
You've got this. ❤️
