Kirsten Gillibrand, for a Zoom call organized by the group “Swifties for Kamala” in an effort to mobilize fans of the pop superstar to vote for Kamala Harris. “Swifties for Kamala” has amassed roughly a quarter of a million followers across multiple social media platforms since President Joe Biden announced he would not seek a second term and endorsed Vice President Harris. To date, the group has raised over $13,000 for the Harris-Walz campaign. More than 26,000 participants registered to join the call. “Hello Swifties!” is how Warren, the first speaker of the night, greeted the group as heart, thumbs up and party emojis flowed through the Zoom stream. Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will sit with CNN for their first joint interview on Thursday as Democrats work to broaden their base’s excitement from last week’s Democratic National Convention. The interview, conducted by CNN’s chief political correspondent and anchor Dana Bash, will air at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday. Special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday filed a superseding indictment in the election interference case against former President Donald Trump, slimming down the allegations against the 2024 presidential nominee in light of the Supreme Court’s immunity ruling. One American man is dead and an American woman is injured in Iceland following a collapse of the Breiðamerkurjökull ice cave, Iceland's public broadcaster RUV said Monday. The rescue operation started Sunday evening and is now complete, with police saying that no one was trapped under the ice, according to the public broadcaster. A group of 23 tourists from several countries was exploring an ice cave at the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier in southeastern Iceland when the incident occurred Sunday, according to the broadcaster. Entering the city of Feni in southeast Bangladesh, it becomes clear why it is described as the epicenter of one of the country's worst floods in living memory. Since Wednesday night, water has inundated 11 districts, and large swathes of the city of nearly 1.5 million people are now submerged. Bangladesh lives on its rivers and waterways — its people relying on the vital life source for fishing and farming rice paddies. The country is also well-acquainted with flooding and cyclones — especially in recent years, as scientists say human-caused climate change exacerbates extreme weather events. John Alfred Tinniswood was born the same year the Titanic sank and when New Mexico and Arizona became US states. Now, the world's oldest living man, who was born on August 26, 1912, is celebrating his 112th birthday. Tinniswood is marking the occasion with friends and family at his care home in the western English seaside town of Southport, according to Guinness World Records. The father-of-one, grandfather-of-four and great-grandfather-of-three was declared the oldest man alive by GWR in April.
