Families of seven female Israeli soldiers captured by Hamas during the October 7 attacks have released graphic footage of their abduction. The footage was previously released by Hamas, according to the Hostages Families Forum. The campaigning group obtained it from the IDF, which had previously edited the video to exclude the most disturbing scenes. Spain, Norway and Ireland have announced plans to formally recognize a Palestinian state. Palestinian statehood has been recognized by more than 130 out of 193 member states of the United Nations, according to the Palestine Liberation Organization. The recognition will come into force in all three countries on May 28, Irish foreign minister Micheál Martin said. Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said the war in Gaza has “made it clear that achieving peace and stability must be predicted on resolving the Palestinian question.” “In the midst of a war, with tens of thousands killed and injured, we must keep alive the only alternative that offers a political solution for Israelis and Palestinians alike: Two states, living side by side, in peace and security,” Støre said. Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said: "We will recognize the state of Palestine for peace, coherence and justice.” “This recognition is not against the people of Israel and certainly not against the Jews. Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs has been accused of sexual assault in a new lawsuit filed on Tuesday by Crystal McKinney, a former model and winner of MTV’s 1998 Model Mission competition show. The Japanese town of Fujikawaguchiko has erected a giant black net to block views of Mount Fuji, a reaction to the vantage point’s huge popularity on Instagram and other social media platforms. “It is regrettable that we had to take such measures,” a local official told CNN last month, when the town’s council decided to block the most popular Fuji views with a 66-foot-long black screen. The small town in Yamanashi prefecture has become the center of an international controversy in recent weeks. A specific viewpoint in Fujikawaguchiko, which is at the foot of Mount Fuji and near the starting point for one of the most-used trails up the mountain, became so popular with visitors that it was causing problems for locals. No money was coming in – from entry tickets, museum passes, or hotel fees – to balance out the damage caused by thousands of visitors or the erosion, trash and traffic issues they bring with them. The National Football League will launch a new program aimed at increasing the number of minority- and women-owned businesses that work with the league throughout the year. The initiative, called NFL Source, was scheduled to be announced during the league's spring meeting on Tuesday and aims to encourage teams to reinvest in their communities by doing business with underrepresented populations. Jonathan Beane, senior vice president and chief diversity & inclusion officer at the NFL, told CNN the program will be its most expansive diversity, equity and inclusion initiative to date and will touch "on the whole ecosystem of the National Football League." At least one person has died and dozens others were injured on board a Singapore Airlines plane that encountered severe turbulence on a flight from London to Singapore, the airline said. The Boeing 777-300ER plane diverted to Bangkok, according to a post on the Singapore Airlines Facebook page. It said 211 passengers and 18 crew were on board. Threatened howler monkeys have been dropping dead from trees in Mexico’s southeastern tropical forests in recent weeks amid a nationwide drought and heat waves that have sent temperatures soaring across much of the country. Mexico’s environment ministry said in a statement that it was coordinating efforts to address the monkeys’ deaths, which it attributed to several possible reasons, including “heat stroke, dehydration, malnutrition or the spraying of crops with toxic agro-chemicals.” Extreme heat is being driven by human-caused climate change, in combination with El Niño, a natural climate pattern which affects global weather. A comet was seen burning up in the night sky in Spain and Portugal on May 18, according to the European Space Agency.
