More ℹ️ about “Welcome home” event on October 13
📰 The event will take place in New York at 9:00 AM ET on October 13. The tagline hints at a smart home theme, and rumors say Apple will launch new home products. The event will follow no traditional live video presentation, but with press releases, a demo area for the press, and promo videos online.
🤪 The display hub was originally planned for 2025, but the launch was delayed because of the postponed AI-powered Siri. Siri AI finally arrived in September, though it’s still labeled as a beta. By the way, Apple may also unveil devices reportedly developed with LG: a video doorbell, a thermostat, and a home camera. They’re expected to be sold under the LG brand.@iPhone

• A single hub for controlling your smart home

| 3 | 🎧 Apple opens a real path into creative careers for young people
📰 Apple and The King's Trust (a UK charity founded by King Charles III) just launched Creative Labs.
ℹ️ It's a new program for young people aged 18-30 who want to build a career in the creative industries. The first cohort of up to 20 people will join hands-on workshops with Apple experts and learn industry-ready skills using Apple tech. It already kicked off this week with music workshops tied to the opening of Apple Music Hall at Battersea Power Station in London. More sessions and cohorts are coming over the next year.

| 4 | 🎵 Apple Music is getting a new logo
📱 The new logo has been spotted in macOS 27.2 beta 3 and iOS 27.2 beta 3. It's identical to the one Apple used last month when announcing Apple Music Hall. At first it wasn't clear whether the design was exclusive to the venue. Now everything points to it being the new official logo for the streaming service.
🍎 Apple's official Apple Music website and web player still show the old logo, but it's only a matter of time. The public software updates are expected later this month, shortly after the iPhone Duo launch, so the new logo should be everywhere by then.
💬 What do you think of the new look?

| 5 | 🆕 MacBook Pro with a touch OLED display is coming in October or November, and it will be "significantly lighter"
📰 Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said the new MacBook Pro models will be "significantly lighter" than the existing MacBook Pro models:
Apple has reengineered the machine's interior, miniaturizing parts and rearranging components to make the computer much easier to carry.
With this newly-reported detail, the new models are now rumored to have six new features:
• OLED display
• Touch-screen capabilities
• Dynamic Island instead of a notch
• M5 Pro and M5 Max chips
• Thinner and "significantly lighter" design
• Lighter go hand in hand
The OLED models are expected to be higher-end and higher-priced, sitting above the existing MacBook Pro lineup.
🍂 October looks busy for Apple:
Oct 8 and/or 13: new 4K Apple TV, HomePod mini 2 and the smart home hub "HomePad" may be announced or open for pre-order (rumored)
Oct 12: iPhone Duo pre-order prep
Oct 16: iPhone Duo pre-orders open
Oct 23: iPhone Duo goes on sale

| 6 | 📦 Apple Stores received mysterious "Do Not Open" boxes
📰 Apple retail stores received confidential boxes earlier this week with "Do Not Open Until October 8" stickers. The boxes are believed to contain new visual merchandise, which lets store staff update labels, graphics and product layouts around new releases.
🔮 What's likely coming: a smart home hub, a new Apple TV 4K and the HomePod mini 2. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says Apple plans to introduce all three on October 13. The hub is reportedly called HomePad.
😐 Apple hasn't announced anything officially yet, so treat the details as rumors. MacRumors also notes the materials could relate to the iPhone Duo, though the smart home lineup seems more likely given the timing and secrecy.

| 7 | 🫨 John Ternus is preparing a major shake-up at Apple
📰 Bloomberg reports that Apple's new chief wants to flatten the corporate structure by cutting out layers of middle management that sit between engineering teams and top executives. The plan is still not finalized.
🔄 Ternus believes Apple needs to be faster and bolder to keep its market lead, with new devices released year-round instead of being tied to the fall and spring cycles.
🧲 That means rethinking R&D projects, production cycles, and operations. Bold experiments are expensive, so Ternus has already asked Eddy Cue and CFO Kevan Parekh to find ways to squeeze more profit out of Apple's existing services.

| 8 | 🔜 Apple enters the smart home on October 13
📰 According to Gurman, Apple plans to launch several new devices:
• HomePad (J490) – smart home hub with a ~6–7" display
• HomePod mini 2 – new hardware, Siri AI support, new colors
• Apple TV 4K – A17 Pro chip or newer, Apple Intelligence, same design
• HomePod 3 – in the works, no release date yet
🐌 The launch was repeatedly delayed by Siri AI, even though Apple TV and HomePod mini have been ready for a long time.
📆 Coming later: a privacy-focused security camera and sensor (J450) that don't record video but can detect which room you're in, plus a bigger 9" HomePad with a robotic arm that rotates the screen 360°. Apple is also working with third-party makers on Siri AI-powered home devices.

| 9 | 💸 Apple hit with a record $5.7B verdict over Taptic Engine patents
📰 A San Diego federal jury found that the Taptic Engine in iPhone and Apple Watch infringes two Taction Technology patents and awarded $5.72B, the largest US patent award to date. Taction sued in 2021.
👨⚖️ The jury found the infringement wasn't willful. Apple says the Taptic Engine is fundamentally different from Taction's technology and will appeal. It's still only a jury verdict. Post-trial motions and an appeal come next, so the amount could be cut or overturned.

| 10 | 🔋 iPhone 18 Pro Max has a battery so big that Apple had to limit it in software
🚢 The battery is over 20 Wh, which puts it above the shipping limits set by many carriers and postal services. So Apple added a "Prepare for Shipping" feature that keeps available capacity below 20 Wh.
📦 New phones ship with the limit already on, and it's removed automatically on first activation.

| 11 | 😏 Not as scratch-resistant as we'd think
The difference between titanium and aluminum, visualized.
🥺 Turns out the new iPhone 18 Pro Max is pretty prone to scratches. Especially noticeable on the burgundy finish.
🔎 One tech guy put it side by side with his iPhone 15 Pro Max, which he's been using daily for three years. The 18 Pro Max? Only four days old.

| 12 | 🏋️♀️ Apple is working on a screenless fitness tracker
📰 According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has been exploring the idea for several months and is now developing prototypes. The prototypes reportedly consist of a thin fabric band and a sensor-equipped computing module, with no screen in sight – the key difference from the display-driven Apple Watch.
• The move comes as competitors such as Whoop and smart ring maker Oura are growing quickly, with millions of users each, prompting Apple to reconsider its approach to health and fitness tracking. Notably, Oura filed for an IPO this month, and Whoop is now valued at about $10 billion.
• The project is currently in the "technology investigation" phase, and it's reportedly backed by Apple executives Tim Cook and Eddy Cue, with engineers from the Vision hardware team involved in development.
📆 Apple hasn't decided whether to release the product, and if it moves forward, it likely wouldn't launch until at least 2028.

| 13 | 👂 First detailed leaks on the @iPhone 20 Pro have surfaced
Even smaller Dynamic Island and a "borderless" display.
📰 Apple is repotedly testing a quad-curved design — where all four edges of the screen are curved. The result is a smooth effect that makes it look like there are no bezels at all.
📏 The displays themselves will grow too: 6.41 inches for the Pro and 6.96 inches for the Pro Max. This year's current models sit at 6.27 and 6.86 inches respectively. | 7 270 |
| 14 | 🎙 Apple opens its own concert venue Apple Music Hall
📍 The venue is located at London's Battersea Power Station, right under Apple's European headquarters, and holds 600 people.
🎵 Both big-name artists and up-and-coming bands will perform on stage. All shows are set to be filmed and streamed live via Apple Music.
🔔 The visitors can already sign up for updates on upcoming events on the Apple Music Hall website.

| 15 | 🔗 Google made a "MacBook" for Android and called it... Googlebook
📰 Google teamed up with Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo to ship the thing Android has been missing for a decade: a real ecosystem partner for your phone = their answer to iPhone + MacBook.
📱 Apple: iPhone + MacBook, Handoff, AirDrop, Universal Control
📱 Google: Android + Googlebook, Continue On, Files, Cast My Apps
Same idea, just with Gemini instead of Siri.
• One standout detail is a glowing strip on the chassis called Glowbar. Right now it only shows battery level, but Google's open-sourcing it for devs, so expect custom indicators from enthusiasts pretty quickly.
• So Android finally gets its own little "macOS moment." The real question is whether the partners can hold a consistent quality bar the way Apple does, or whether this turns into the usual mess — a dozen similar-but-different laptops.
📅 On shelves starting October 4.

| 16 | 😒 But Mark Gurman isn't inspired
📱 He says we shouldn't bother upgrading to the iPhone 18 Pro if you're already on the previous model. Social media is flooded with glowing reviews from tech bloggers right now, but a lot of that "excitement" is reportedly just paid promo dressed up as organic content — deals struck in exchange for early units, not real enthusiasm.
🤷♂️ He doesn't spell out exactly what's underwhelming about the 18 Pro itself. Probably because the upgrades are just that minor.

| 18 | 📸 Apple releases official photos from the iPhone 18 Pro launch day in NY and beyond
📍At the Apple Fifth Avenue store, customers were greeted by much of Apple's top brass: John Ternus, Greg Joswiak, Deirdre O'Brien, Molly Anderson, Steve Lemay, and Lily Rincon.
📱 The first buyers didn't just pick up their pre-orders, but also got hands-on time with the new lineup and tips on how to use the latest features.

| 19 | 📱 Apple rolled out a massive global campaign for the iPhone Duo
📍 Samsung, of course, couldn't resist. They swooped in and bought the billboard right next to Apple's ad at Delhi Airport, putting up their own clapback right beside it.

| 20 | 📱 iPhone 18 Pro reviews are in: great camera, better battery, no big surprises
🧐 First reviews of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are out, and the verdict is familiar: solid upgrade, nothing revolutionary. One reviewer described it essentially as last year's Pro with a better chip, camera, and bigger battery, plus new colors to help people spot the new models.
📸 Camera: New variable aperture (f/1.48–f/4) boosts low-light shots and daytime bokeh, plus new shutter-speed and film-grain options.
🧠 Performance: A20 Pro chip runs demanding games smoothly; bigger vapor chamber keeps it cooler.
🔋 Battery: Biggest win — 18 Pro Max hit 34.5 hours of HD video playback, 2 hours more than last year.
🏝 Dynamic Island is 25% smaller and now shows 3 notifications at once.
✏️ Same overall design as before, and the aluminum camera bump edges still scratch easily = a known issue Apple reportedly isn't fixing.
📅 Sales start tomorrow, September 18. Base 18 Pro (256GB) starts at $1,199.
