A witch’s familiar is a supernatural companion traditionally believed to assist a witch in magic and witchcraft. In European folklore and early modern witch-trial accounts, familiars were often described as cats, dogs, birds, toads, or other animals, sometimes believed to be spirits or demons taking animal form. They were said to help with spells, divination, protection, and carrying out a witch’s commands. Behemoth is a colossal creature described in the Book of Job (Job 40:15–24) in the Hebrew Bible. God presents Behemoth to Job as an example of His overwhelming power, describing it as an immense beast with extraordinary strength, bones like bronze and limbs like iron, feeding on grass like an ox. It has a powerful tail, massive limbs, and is so formidable that humans cannot easily capture or control it. Its exact identity is debated: some interpret it as a hippopotamus, while others see it as a mythic primordial beast representing untamed natural power. In later Jewish and Christian traditions, Behemoth became associated with Leviathan, sometimes portrayed as the great land beast destined to oppose or complement the great sea monster.

The god Amun ("the hidden one") first came into prominence at the beginning of the Middle Kingdom. From the New Kingdom onward, Amun was arguably the most important god in the Egyptian pantheon. As a creator god, Amun is most often identified as Amun-Ra (in the typical Egyptian blending of deities, Amun is combined with the main solar deity, Ra). His main sanctuary was the immense temple complex at Karnak on the east bank of the Nile at the southern edge of modern Luxor. | 692 |
