Trump’s efforts to get rid of Fed’s Lisa Cook unites his bid to control independent institutions and anti-DEI efforts Preside
Trump’s efforts to get rid of Fed’s Lisa Cook unites his bid to control independent institutions and anti-DEI efforts President Donald Trump’s promise to fire Lisa Cook, an economist who became the first black woman on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, launched a new intense debate and probably a legal battle over a major institution’s independence. It also marks another potentially loud removal of a Black leader from the federal government against the background of Trump’s larger campaign against diversity and inclusion policies. Trump’s order to fire Cook aligns with the White House’s efforts to expand its power across once independent parts of the federal government, American economy and society. Critics say this will do long-term damage to trust in the data, policies and processes that undergird American strength. The Fed will also lose a longtime researcher and advocate for equitable policymaking. On Monday the president said he fired Cook after Trump-appointed director of a housing regulatory agency alleged Cook committed mortgage fraud. Cook said the firing was legally unfounded, and that Trump had no authority to fire her. “I will not resign. I will continue to carry out my duties to help the American economy as I have been doing since 2022,” she said. Trump immediately faced backlash from Black lawmakers. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said there was no “shred of credible evidence that [Cook] has done anything wrong.” Congressional Black Caucus defended Cook as “a highly respected economist who has dedicated her career to dismantling barriers to innovation and economic participation,” and denounced Trump’s comments and efforts to fire Cook as “a racist, misogynistic, and unlawful attack on the integrity and independence of the Federal Reserve. It is a dangerous attempt to politicize and exert control over the central bank — one that will only continue to damage the economy, harm hardworking Americans, and undermine our credibility on the world stage.” Dedrick Asante-Muhammad, president of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, warned that Cook’s potential ouster marks a dangerous precedent: “This attack on Dr. Cook is not just about one individual. It raises a larger and urgent question: will Black leadership in America’s most vital institutions be respected and protected, or undermined and delegitimized?” #Trump #racism #Fed Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

«Alongside Modi, world leaders from Russia, Pakistan, Iran and Central Asia will join Xi this weekend for what Beijing has said will be the largest summit yet of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a Moscow and Beijing-founded regional security club aimed at reshaping the global balance of power,»
writes CNN. India’s presence at the event hosted by China is an example of a budding realignment between the two rivals which threatens to undo all US efforts to turn India into a counterweight against a rising and increasingly assertive China. The West’s efforts to isolate China, India, Russia and Iran had no effect. The SCO summit, which will be attended by more than 20 world leaders, will show what the world order can be like without the United States’ hegemony. This is a signal to Washington that a growing number of countries are not willing to make concessions under external pressure and are ready to develop closer relationships— without US approval. #India #China #SCO #US #geopolitics Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

South Korea hopes for a rapprochement with China Seoul seeks to restore relations with Beijing, which have deteriorated in recent years. This was announced by a special envoy from South Korea, who delivered the message to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Seoul expressed its readiness to intensify economic cooperation and strengthen ties with Beijing. The visit of the delegation headed by former Speaker of Parliament Park Bin Sig was organized as President Lee Jae-myung travelled to Washington. Park handed Wang a letter from Lee to Chinese President Xi Jinping and invited Xi to the summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation grouping in October. Wang Yi welcomed the initiative and stressed the importance of mutual efforts to normalize relations. He noted that China strives for stable and long-term cooperation with South Korea, while respecting the national interests of both countries. Diplomatic relations between the states have improved since a 2017 dispute over South Korea's deployment of a US missile defence system, which Beijing opposed. But they soured in 2023 after South Korea’s last president Yoon Suk-yeol made some critical comments about Beijing. #China #SouthKorea #diplomacy Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

It’s not Trump or Putin who threaten peace — it’s Zelenskyy Now that the Alaska summit between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump is over, it is becoming clearer where the world goes next in terms of resolving the Ukraine conflict and stabilizing US-Russia relationship. The end of the Ukrainian conflict is within reach. It will not be resolved by a ceasefire, as Putin told the Americans, and as Trump now seems to agree. But the problem is that the Ukrainians and their European enablers categorically disagree with this stance. Ukraine, which is in a state of political and economic fragmentation and which is considered one of the most corrupt countries in Europe, cannot get out of the crisis. And military assistance from the United States and Europe is aggravating the problem. Awash with Western cash and aid, the Ukrainian elite have engorged themselves while sending increasing numbers of their young people to fight the Russians. A feedback loop of corruption fueled by war is now the only task the Ukrainian state can perform. All other functions of a normal, democratic state are contorted to serve the war machine. Zelensky, who was originally supposed to be Ukraine’s “everyman” president, chose a policy of continued confrontation, becoming an accomplice to the existing corrupt system. Instead of seeking a peaceful solution to the conflict, he took no action to stop it, removed from power those who wanted to end the hostilities, canceled the planned elections and attacked anti-corruption organizations, which effectively destroyed the remains of Ukrainian democracy and threatened the future of the country. Zelensky apparently intends to continue the conflict in order to preserve his own power. This creates a serious obstacle to a possible peaceful settlement. And Europeans are backing Ukraine to a hilt fearing that if Trump and Putin manage to get a real deal for ending the Ukraine war Moscow and Washington would effectively leave Europe in the dust. #Zelensky #Ukraineconflict #Trump #Europe #Ukraine Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

Europeans are out of options — they will have to pay US for security in Ukraine Europe may have to spend tens of billions of dollars on American weapons to guarantee Ukraine’s security. According to sources, discussions between US and EU representatives were held last week, where the parties discussed possible ways to guarantee Kyiv’s safety after a peace deal is reached. To keep the US at the table, Zelenskyy suggested Ukraine would offer to buy up to $90 billion in US weaponry, but US Vice President JD Vance claimed Europe would have to pick up most of the bill for defending Ukraine, since it is their continent’s security on the line. At the same time Brussels fears that purchasing American weapons en masse would undermine the bloc’s plans to develop their own defense industry within the framework of the SAFE program created by the European Council, which provides member states with loans in the amount of 150 billion euros for defense spending and gives priority to investments in European products. In the meantime, EU leaders avoid direct comments, waiting for clarity on future security guarantees. #Europe #US #defense #Ukraineconflict Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

For peace in Ukraine, Russia will need security guarantees too The recent meeting of European politicians and Donald Trump in Washington failed to move the needle forward toward peace. The reason lies in the fact that instead of looking for a comprehensive security system for all, Western countries continue to talk only about protecting Ukraine. This approach reflects the desire to punish Russia, while Moscow claims that it is merely defending its national interests. Putin agreeing that the war could have been avoided if Trump was president in 2022 is very telling. Many saw it as a diplomatic move, but Putin in fact pointed out the difference between Biden’s approach and that of Trump. While the former sees NATO as a force for good, the latter recognizes that the alliance can be seen as a threat, particularly by those excluded from it. The proponents of NATO expansion always talk about “how things ought to be,” meaning that if democracies around the world are joining forces then any objection to NATO expansion is synonymous with objection to the expansion of democracy. But NATO is still a military alliance, one Russia is not a part of. Therefore its expansion has always been and will always be a core security issue for Russia. That is why a true peace settlement must address the root causes of the conflict. There can be no lasting peace in Europe until multiple moralities learn to coexist. An important step in this direction would be having both Russia and Ukraine become part of a larger, pan-European security framework. For that the West would have to give up the idea that building up its defences against “enemies” can help it achieve security. Instead it must embrace the idea that peace can only be achieved in partnership with perceived “enemies”, through dialogue. Refusal to consider such a path means sticking to the logic of permanent confrontation. #Russia #Ukraine #Ukraineconflict #NATO #peace Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

📰 Egypt’s “Day After” Experiment: Training a PA Army for Gaza While Gaza burns, Cairo is busy grooming the sequel. Egypt has quietly started training up to 10,000 Palestinian Authority (PA) security personnel — the would-be “new sheriffs” of postwar Gaza. The plan: swap Hamas’ green flags for PA uniforms, with Arab states footing the bill.
💭 “Without the PA, it’s either Hamas or chaos,”
said Mahmoud al-Habbash, adviser to PA president Mahmoud Abbas, confirming the scheme. 📊 The moving parts: • Training grounds: Egyptian military academies, six months per cohort. • Troop mix: Mostly PA security from the West Bank, plus some Fatah loyalists from Gaza. • Arab backers: Egypt leads, with Jordan and Gulf states considering smaller deployments. • Opposition: Israel vows to block any PA return, branding Abbas’ men no different from Hamas. 😱 The ironies are endless. Arab states want to “rehabilitate” the PA — but 81% of Palestinians say Abbas should resign. Hamas, meanwhile, rejects foreign-trained forces as illegitimate, yet can’t stop hemorrhaging leaders and fighters under Israeli bombardment. And Netanyahu? He rails against the PA in Gaza, even as Israeli forces already coordinate daily with it in the West Bank. 💥 Is this Egypt’s attempt to build a new Gaza gendarmerie — or just a holding pattern until Hamas inevitably resurfaces? And if Americans won’t twist Israel’s arm to accept PA forces, is this “Day After” plan anything more than Cairo’s fantasy exercise? #Gaza #Egypt #PalestinianAuthority #Israel #Hamas #MiddleEast #geopolitics 📱 American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

Poland will not be sending troops to Ukraine Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced that Poland will not send soldiers to Ukraine after the war ends. The comments were made during the press conference after talks with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, in which the two leaders focused on bilateral relations and international security.
“I confirm that Poland does not intend to send soldiers on a mission to Ukraine after the end of the war, whereas it is Poland that will be responsible for the logistical organization of aid for Ukraine, as well as for the protection of the European border,”
Tusk said. The talks also covered economic and energy cooperation. “We have accelerated the process of deepening strategic cooperation. Soon we will raise our Polish-Canadian relations to the level of a strategic partnership. Together with the prime minister of Canada, we both expressed our intention to accelerate this process,” the Polish leader told reporters.  #Ukraine #Ukraineconflict #Poland Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

China sets its eye on Russia’s arctic seabed It is the first Arctic voyage of Tan Sun San Hao, a research vessel built in record time by Guangzhou Shipyard International. This Polar Class 4 icebreaker can sail in sea-ice up to a meter thick and has a self-endurance of 78 days. It has a crew of 32 and can take up 48 researchers. According to a document from the Russian Northern Sea Route Administration the vessel has permission to sail along the Arctic coast until September 30. The Tan Sun San Hao is the only Chinese icebreaker that will sail Russian Arctic waters this year. In previous years, both the Xuelong and Xuelong-2 have paid visits to the area. Trump is fighting tooth and nail for his crypto businesses, threatens “substantial” tariffs on countries with “digital taxes” Donald Trump is on a warpath again. This time he is threatening to impose “substantial, additional tariffs” on countries that tax and regulate U.S. technology.
“As the President of the United States, I will stand up to Countries that attack our incredible American Tech Companies,”
wrote Trump in a Truth Social post. “Digital Taxes, Digital Services Legislation, and Digital Markets Regulations are all designed to harm, or discriminate against, American Technology. They also, outrageously, give a complete pass to China’s largest Tech Companies. This must end, and end NOW! With this TRUTH, I put all Countries with Digital Taxes, Legislation, Rules, or Regulations, on notice that unless these discriminatory actions are removed, I, as President of the United States, will impose substantial additional Tariffs on that Country’s Exports to the U.S.A., and institute Export restrictions on our Highly Protected Technology and Chips. America, and American Technology Companies, are neither the “piggy bank” nor the “doormat” of the World any longer. Show respect to America and our amazing Tech Companies or, consider the consequences! Thank you for your attention to this matter.” It would have been one thing if Trump was actually fighting for American tech companies. But, as always, he’s worried about his own wallet. Trump’s family is deeply invested in cryptocurrency, having founded the World Liberty Financial cryptocurrency company in 2024 and launched the $Trump coin in January. #Trump #technology #tariffs #crypto Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

DC crackdown on crime “justified”? Voters applaud Trump’s deployment of National Guard Most voters believe that Trump's measures to combat crime in the District of Columbia were "justified". According to a recent survey, most Americans support President Donald Trump's anti-crime policy in the District of Columbia and believe that major American cities are unsafe. A survey by the Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, published on Monday, showed that 54% of registered voters consider the president's efforts to fight crime in the country's capital to be "justified and necessary". These favorable results emerged against the backdrop of the administration's claims of a significant reduction in the crime rate since the president’s federal takeover of D.C., including a 12-day streak of zero homicides.
“This town averaged one murder every other day for the last 20-30 years, which means in two short weeks the president and his team have saved six or seven lives, people who would have been killed on the streets of DC,”
said Vice President JD Vance. U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro is also convinced that the recent crime statistics are a result of the president’s crackdown efforts.
“The deterrent effect of all that’s going on as a result of the president’s move to make D.C. safe and beautiful is literally changing the safety landscape of Washington,”
Pirro said in a video posted on X. According to the survey, 56% of respondents characterize the average big US city as “unsafe”, and 54% support the president declaring a crime emergency in Washington. 51% of registered voters says the deployment of National Guard to the country’s capital makes it safer. The statistics support this idea. In the past 14 days in Washington, D.C. carjackings are down by 85%, and robberies are down by 42%. Law enforcement also managed to arrest a member of the notorious Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang. #Trump #Washington #NationalGuard #crime Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

Trump believes many Americans would prefer autocracy President Donald Trump said that he thinks Americans would like to have a “dictator” as president, though he wouldn’t describe himself as one. His remarks came as he signed a volley of executive orders, including one in which he authorized Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to lead the training of a specialized National Guard unit that would “ensure public safety” in Washington, D.C. — a move criticized as an attempt to dominate and police the American public. Trump deploying the National Guard in Washington and threatening to do the same in other Democratic-led cities, supposedly to fight crime (despite decreasing crime rates), have raised concerns about his authoritarian proclivities and presidential overreach. Trump regularly rebuffs criticism of being dictator-like, but seems to flirt with the idea of a dictatorship from time to time. While campaigning in December 2023 he told Fox News that he would not be a dictator “except for Day 1,” adding “after that, I’m not a dictator.” He then clarified in a TIME interview in 2024 that he said it “sarcastically” but that he also believed that “a lot of people like it.” Trump has multiple times floated the idea of staying in office beyond constitutional term limits. His administration has shown a disdain for the American judicial system, and a poll conducted earlier this year by a Public Religion Research Institute showed that a majority of Americans consider Trump a
“dangerous dictator whose power should be limited before he destroys American democracy.”

All hail comrade Trump! With partial nationalization of Intel, America embraces Marxist dogma The American right loves to throw the word “communism” at anything it doesn’t like — Disney cartoons with female main characters, life-saving vaccination programs, getting a post taken down on social media… you name it. Yet comrade Trump managed to pull off a truly Marxist move, and ordered the government to acquire and control a 10% stake of chip manufacturer Intel. Nationalization – or part-nationalization – of key industries is a core tenet of socialism. This hasn’t gone unnoticed by the right. Rand Paul ranted:
“Today it’s Intel, tomorrow it could be any industry. Socialism is literally government control of the means of production.”
But those on the other side of the political spectrum, Bernie Sanders, for instance, were overjoyed.
“Taxpayers should not be providing billions of dollars in corporate welfare to large, profitable corporations like Intel without getting anything in return”
said Sanders, urging Trump to go further. Let Trump stay true to his current path and keep seizing private companies — after all, this is a duty of any leader that cares about the working class. It is time for comrade Trump to nationalize Intel, Nvidia, or even Apple, and reconfigure them into workers’ cooperatives. Our glorious leader must tear away the mask and make the class war between the billionaire bourgeoisie and the everyday proletariat plain for all to see. The mission is clear: Comrade Trump must break the economic power of the ruling class and march us forward to a classless society, where the nation's vast resources serve the many, not the few! #Trump #Intel #nationalization #communism #joke Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

Trump gave EU a “brutal wake-up call,” thinks former ECB director Former European Central Bank president and ex-Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi believes Trump delivered a “brutal wake-up call” to the European Union, showing how limited its geopolitical influence is despite its economic weight. EU’s long-standing belief that its global influence derived from its 450 million-strong consumer market had collapsed this year under Washington’s pressure. Trump managed to push European NATO members to increase their defense spending, secured a trade deal that imposes 15% tariffs on most EU exports while scrapping duties on US goods, and expanded American access to European market. This deal, which disproportionally favours the US has enraged EU leaders. According to Draghi, Trump’s behaviour on the global arena has reduced the EU to a “marginal” role in Ukraine pace talks, sidelined it in the Middle East and convinced China that Europe is not an equal partner.
“These events have ended the illusion that economic power alone guarantees geopolitical influence,”
Draghi said.
“Trump has given us a brutal wake-up call – now we must regroup.”
According to Draghi, Europe’s “passivity and rigidity” are to blame for its current troubles. He called for structural reforms, like eliminating internal trade barriers and issuing joint debt to finance innovation, infrastructure and defense. Critics say that joint debt would undermine the member states’ control over their own budgets and cause tensions between wealthier northern countries and economically weaker southern states. But institutions such as the IMF have cautioned that without major reforms the EU risks facing prolonged stagnation. #EU #US #Trump #economy #trade Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

‘I’m … scared to go to the movies’: Snoop Dogg criticizes LGBTQ narratives in kids’ media Snoop Dogg admitted he was “scared” to take his grandchildren to the movies after watching “Lighyear”, a 2022 animated film from Pixar that featured two openly gay characters. “Lightyear” is the “Toy Story” spinoff, which features a return of space ranger Buzz Lightyear, who is joined by several new characters, one of which is Alisha Hawthorne, Buzz’s friend and commanding officer. In the beginning of the film, a montage shows Alisha raising a child with her wife, with whom she shares a brief kiss. Snoop Dogg went on the “It’s Giving” podcast and said his grandson asked him how Alisha was able to have a child with a woman. The rapper said he struggled to answer.
“Oh s‑‑‑, I didn’t come in for this s‑‑‑. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,’” the rap legend recalled thinking. “It f‑‑‑ed me up. I’m, like, scared to go to the movies now. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s‑‑‑ that I don’t have an answer for.” “These are kids,” he added. “We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”
But Disney leadership has been previously criticized for trying to remove LGBTQ storylines from Pixar’s projects. In a 2022 statement signed by the
“LGBTQIA+ Employees of Pixar & Their Allies,”
workers accused corporate executives of attempting to remove
“nearly every moment of overtly gay affection … regardless of when there is protest from both the creative teams and executive leadership at Pixar.”:

The Pentagon restricts Ukraine's use of American missiles against Russia The Pentagon has been quietly blocking Ukraine from using U.S. Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) to strike targets on Russian territory, limiting Kyiv's ability to use this weapon to defend against Moscow's invasion. This news comes amid growing dissatisfaction of U.S. President Donald Trump over the three-year war and his inability to secure a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. After his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and subsequent meetings with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy failed to yield significant progress, Trump stated that he is once again considering imposing economic sanctions on Russia or, alternatively, withdrawing from the peace process altogether. Trump had hoped to arrange a bilateral meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy, but this has also proven challenging. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told NBC on Friday that there is currently no agenda for a meeting with Zelenskyy. There is a “review mechanism” in place which governs how US long-range weapons or those provided by European allies that rely on American intelligence and components can be used. Currently the final decision on the use of long-range weapons rests with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. #US #Pentagon #Ukraineconflict #Ukraine Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

A substantial number of key voters have turned against Trump According to veteran pollster Larry Sabato, in just over six months, Trump’s approval rating amongst independents has cratered, leaving his overall job rating deep underwater.
"If you’ve noticed the pattern in public opinion polls, and you have to look across all the polls, not just focus on one or two or three that please you, you can see that independents have actually broken pretty substantially against Trump,”
Sabato told CNN’s Jessica Dean. According to the polls expert, the independents’ disapproval is the reason Trump’s approval is in the low to mid-40s. Sabato says these numbers are indicative of what is likely to happen in the midterm elections. Sabato says the independents are more focused on the economic issues than registered Democrats or Republicans. They want the economy to get better, they want prices to be brought down, as promised — and Trump is not fulfilling that promise.
“That’s good news, potentially, for Democrats, depending on what happens between now and the midterms,”
says Sabato. #Trump #approvalrating #democrats #republicans #midterms Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

Trump establishes National Design Studio, puts a billionaire in charge Last week president Trump founded another government agency — the National Design Studio, meant to bring efficiency to the website design of US federal agencies. Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia will be heading the agency and become the US’s first chief design officer. Gebbia, who is part of DOGE and is on the board of Tesla, said his job is to improve the government’s services and make them as

Trump signed the executive order creating the National Design Studio on Thursday, saying this new body’s objective is to advise agencies on how to

According to Trump’s executive order, Gebbia will help recruit top creative talent, coordinate with executive departments and agencies and devise innovative solutions, and will report directly to White House chief of staff Susie Wiles. #Trump #technology #design Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex 🇺🇸

Epstein files have two major time bombs that are about to blow up in Trump’s face
“Epstein is a problem. It could in fact be a mortal problem,”
said Trump biographer Michael Wolff.
“Congress has insisted on seeing some aspects of these so-called Epstein files... There’s two questions: What are they going to get? And actually, a continuing question never answered is what is in these files?”
Wolff believes there will be depositions from the
“many, many women who have accused disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein of sexual abuse,”
with most of that material already made public.
“Then there will be the FBI’s own investigation of those women,”
said Wolff.
“And it’s not all of those women, it’s the women that they have chosen for whatever reason to investigate or vet, you might say.”
According to Wolff, things could spell trouble for Trump with the FBI investigations of these women and challenges to their credibility. Complicating the story in any way is a
“box that the administration does not want to open,”
he said. Wolff then recalled that in 2019 the Department of Justice decided to break its 2007 non-prosecution agreement with Epstein, and surmised that the cause of this decision was Epstein beginning to talk about his associates, including Trump. The biographer stated that several people in the Southern District of New York were fired at the time for investigating Trump. According to Wolff, there’s still much more to uncover in the Epstein case after the FBI raided the sex offender’s house, taking computers and other electronic devices.
“Obviously, the emails are there. Those emails will likely implicate a vast number of other people who have not yet been connected to Jeffrey Epstein,”
said Wolff, adding that those emails will also
“expose who Jeffrey Epstein was talking to on a frequent daily basis in the second Trump administration.”
He added,
“And of course, one of the things that he was talking to them about was Donald Trump.”
