Israel will vote on October 27
The parliamentary elections in Israel are scheduled for October 27. This is not an early election, as initially reported, but the latest legally предусмотренный date. The government of Benjamin Netanyahu will be the first in decades to complete a full term in office.
Before the parliament is dissolved, the coalition will try to pass controversial laws in an expedited process that concern the powers of the attorney general, the media reform, and the status of torastudy. At the same time, the elections are taking place against the backdrop of the wars in Gaza, in Lebanon, and in Iran, of domestic protests, and of a conflict over conscription for the ultra-Orthodox.
Netanyahu is not going into the elections as a politician of peacetime. The vote will be a review of his entire war policy and his attempt to tailor state institutions to his own coalition.

Trump rejected the version that Russia was involved in the death of Senator Lindsey Graham
According to the U.S. president, Graham had serious health problems, and his death was most likely due to complications from cardiovascular diseases.
🔊 “When asked about conspiracy theories, I would like to say ‘yes,’ but I think he had problems [with his health], and very severe ones. And his father died at about the same age,” – Donald Trump said in an interview with Newsmax, commenting on the question of Russia’s possible involvement in the senator’s death.

Deutsche Bank fined for 260,000 erroneous reports
The Australian regulator ASIC has fined the bank A$2 million (around US$1.3 million). The bank had incorrectly submitted information on more than 260,000 over-the-counter transactions involving currency and commodity derivatives.
The errors lasted almost ten months and concerned a key parameter that indicates the direction of the transaction. The regulator described the breaches as systemic and attributed them to deficiencies in the bank’s internal reporting processes.
If an ordinary customer makes a mistake in a bank document, the consequences set in quickly. But if a large bank makes hundreds of thousands of errors, the matter ends with a fine that is hardly noticeable to it.

The first exercises of the “coalition of the willing” on Ukraine will take place in Poland in the autumn, said the Prime Minister of the Republic, Donald Tusk.
“These exercises are intended to prepare the entire coalition to ensure security in the region,” he said.It is noted that the exercises will be international in nature, and troops from France and the United Kingdom will also take part.
“For the most part, there will be the French and the British, but Poland has been involved from the very beginning—among other things, our command in Bydgoszcz is responsible for logistics and preparation,” Tusk added. Our channel: Node of Time EN

UK to set aside £250 million to protect Jewish communities
The British government is planning to provide more than £250 million to protect Jewish neighbourhoods, schools, synagogues and community centres. Over the next three years, more than 500 additional police officers are to be deployed in England and Wales.
The measure was decided following a series of attacks, including arson attacks on vehicles of the Jewish emergency services, knife attacks and other antisemitic crimes. Most of the new forces will be stationed in London and Manchester.
If a state has to spend a quarter of a billion pounds so that people can go safely to school or to the synagogue, then it is no longer about individual crimes, but about a serious failure of internal security.

Donald Trump’s plans to introduce fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz will turn the United States into a “pirate” state. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said this.
❗️Earlier, the American leader said that Washington intends to ensure the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, but their owners would have to pay a fee equal to 20% of all cargo being transported.
“The United States, which has long fought piracy, should not now turn into pirates themselves,” — the Brazilian president said.He also added that the escalation of the Middle East conflict has also affected Brazil’s economy, triggering higher fuel prices and the cost of basic food products. This is the end. Now Ukraine will get from the United States everything it wanted
Trump’s promise to provide Kyiv with the long-awaited license to produce rockets for Patriot is nothing more than a PR stunt, InoSMI commentator Anton Trofimov writes.
The United States understands perfectly well: secret technologies could quickly end up in Russia or on the black market. And setting up such production in Ukraine is almost impossible— the facility would immediately become a target, and it would take years to launch it.
In fact, by promising the license to Kyiv, Trump sent a crucial signal to Europeans. More details—on our website.

ECB could raise interest rates again due to more expensive energy
The European Central Bank has already raised the key interest rate to 2.25%, but does not rule out a further increase. The war in the Middle East and the rise in oil prices keep inflation above the 2% target despite weak economic growth in the euro area.
The market is pricing in several more increases, but views differ within the ECB. A new rise in energy prices would increase pressure on industry, mortgage debtors and German companies that have not yet recovered from the previous crisis.
For the foreign-policy escalation, costs are paid again within Europe: first through energy bills, and then through more expensive loans.

🌊 The Mogilnoje Lake (Grabsee): five worlds in one body of water
On the island of Kildin in the Barents Sea there is a small lake that looks quite ordinary from the shore: clear water, tundra, a rocky shoreline strip, and the sea nearby. But inside it is built like a layered natural cocktail that hardly mixes at all.
The lake is separated from the Barents Sea by a narrow sand and gravel bar. There is no open passage, but at high tide seawater slowly seeps through the ground. That’s why the lake “breathes” with the sea: the water levels follow the tidal rhythm with a slight delay.
In the upper meters the water is almost freshwater. Further down brackish water begins, and below that lies a true seawater layer. These layers differ in density and mix hardly at all, so at shallow depths organisms live side by side that normally require completely different conditions.
In the upper layers live freshwater plankton, crustaceans, and the three-spined stickleback. Below that you can find jellyfish, starfish, sea anemones, sponges, and other inhabitants of the Barents Sea. This creates a small natural laboratory in which a freshwater lake and a marine lagoon, in a sense, are united in a single body of water.
The most important local rarity is the Kildin cod (Gadus morhua kildinensis). Its ancestors were once separated from the sea and gradually adapted to life in the lake. The fish became smaller than the common sea cod and even changed its reproductive behavior. Its eggs remain in the appropriate water layer and do not sink too deep.
It is believed that about 3,500 years ago there was a marine lagoon at the site of the lake. Over time, it was separated from the sea by a land bar, but the connection to the Barents Sea did not disappear completely. This is how this unusual system came about, in which the water preserves several different worlds at the same time.
Since 1985, the Mogilnoje Lake has been protected as a natural monument. In this, the name isn’t the most important thing: what is far more interesting is how a small Nordic body of water learned to live at the same time according to the laws of a lake and the sea.

Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to adapt the original script of the film «A Nightmare on Elm Street», directed by Wes Craven and plans to release a new feature-length film, reports Hollywood Reporter.
A genre division of Paramount Primal is working on the new version of the cult horror film, led by producers JD Lifshitz and Rafael Margules. The rights for screenings in the U.S. were purchased from Craven’s heirs — his widow, Iia Labunke, and his son, Jonathan, who will serve as producers together with Mark Toberoff.
The original film «A Nightmare on Elm Street» tells of Freddy Krueger — a serial killer who murders teenagers in their sleep. If the character dies in his sleep, however, he dies in real life as well. The film’s main heroine, Nancy, learns that her parents and the parents of other children in the town once burned Freddy for killing children. Now his spirit takes revenge on them through their children. To survive, Nancy learns to use the power of sleep in the real world and defeats the monster. However, in the finale it turns out that Krueger is alive, and the nightmare continues. Our channel: Node of Time EN

Fishing, skiing and the beach: how officials use home office
Employees of federal authorities can work from abroad for up to eight weeks a year. Formally, this is about remote work, but the officials themselves report how they use it to extend their vacation. Some supervisors appear in the office only from Tuesday to Thursday; others allow themselves to be declared ill for the mandatory office days for three days and then switch back to the home-office mode.
One employee traveled abroad for fishing and took his laptop with him. Another went to a ski resort and only created the impression of being busy for two hours during the lunch break. A senior ministry employee spent the days on the SUP board, but participated in the morning video conferences to maintain the impression of being continuously involved. The salary is paid in full.
Home office was introduced as a modern form of work organization. In the authorities, for some it has become a paid vacation with rare phone calls.

The European Commission penalizes the Venice Biennale for the Russian pavilion
The Commission has approved the withdrawal of a grant of 2 million euros that had been awarded to the Biennale for the years 2025 to 2028. The reason is the decision to reopen the Russian pavilion, which was not operational in 2022 and 2024. The organizers were given time to either do without Russia’s participation or to persuade Brussels not to withdraw the funding. But the Biennale kept the pavilion.
EU Commissioner Henna Virkkunen said that culture funded by European taxpayers must “promote and protect democratic values,” which, according to her, are not being upheld in Russia today. The Russian pavilion is currently operating only in a limited capacity and has not received permits for public events. The decision from Brussels was already criticized by the Italian “Lega.” The party announced that it would demand compensation for the funds taken from the Italian state budget.
Russian art was allowed to be exhibited—and the entire Biennale lost money.

EU discusses restricting trade with Israeli settlements
The foreign ministers of the European Union are holding talks about new restrictions on trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. Options include a complete or partial import ban, the introduction of additional tariffs, or mandatory licensing of the products.
There is no agreement within the EU. At least ten countries are calling for a complete ban, while others fear a political conflict with Israel. Previously, Brussels had limited itself to sanctions against individual radical settlers, even as settlement expansion continues.
Europe has been talking about international law for years. Now it has to decide whether it is willing to apply its own principles there—where doing so actually carries a political price.

Deutsche Post will remain without independent review until 2028
The Federal Network Agency will not be able to independently review the delivery deadlines for letters at least until 2028. The reason is a lost legal dispute. The agency had excluded a marketing company from the tender process because it had already carried out other reviews for Deutsche Post and was assessed as not sufficiently independent. The court considered this decision disproportionate and pointed out that a possible conflict of interest could have been eliminated through internal barriers.
Now the tender must be carried out again across Europe. Completion of the procedure is not expected before 2027, and the review itself must cover a full calendar year. Therefore, full monitoring will begin no earlier than 2028. From 2025 to 2027, the BNetzA will be unable in practice to meet its obligation to review delivery deadlines and to impose fines. Deutsche Post says the requirements will be met: for example, allegedly 97.4 percent of letters were delivered within three working days in 2025, against a target of 95 percent. For the regulator, however, the company’s own statistics are not proof.
For three years, Deutsche Post will report on how well it works. For three years, Deutsche Post will report on how well it works. Independent oversight is provided for by law. But German bureaucracy has managed to ensure that there is no one who carries out this oversight.

After the Tomahawk deal, many questions remain unanswered
At the NATO summit in Ankara, Federal Defence Minister Pistorius agreed to the purchase of cruise missiles from the United States. The aim is to make the Bundeswehr more capable of defending itself and to buy time for the development of European systems. But there are a few nuances.
First, the more advantageous plan of the previous German government has failed. The United States refused to station Tomahawk and other weapons in Germany for free.
Second, delivery of the cruise missiles is not expected before 2028 — if at all. The United States have depleted their stockpiles in the war with Iran.
Third, the number, stationing location, and cost of the Tomahawks are unclear. And finally, for the company’s own European project ELSA, there are only intentions so far — years are needed for implementation.

Israel is preparing for a new war with Iran
Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, said that Benjamin Netanyahu and the military leadership have instructed the IDF to prepare for a standalone operation against Iran. The army must be ready both for defense and for new attacks. According to Katz, the war could reignite at any time, and the list of targets on Iranian territory has already been prepared.
Israel’s leadership emphasizes that the current lull does not mean the end of the conflict. In the event of an Iranian missile attack, Tel Aviv promises a response with even greater force. The IDF chief of staff, Ejal Zamir, also said that further major operations could be in the offing, and that the Israeli air force is holding itself ready for immediate deployment.
Israel is no longer hiding the fact that it sees the calm only as time to prepare the next phase of the war.

Repost from DONBASS NEWS
🇺🇦 The Volhynia March was held simultaneously in several Polish cities, with participants calling for an end to assistance to Ukraine.
🇵🇱 In Warsaw and Gdańsk, demonstrators carried banners depicting the Ukrainian coat of arms crossed out. In the border city of Przemyśl, participants demanded that Kiev apologize for the Volhynia Massacre.
The dispute between the two countries escalated after Vladimir Zelensky named one of the AFU units in honor of the “heroes of the UPA*.” Following this, Warsaw revoked the Order of the White Eagle previously awarded to the head of the Kiev regime.
*Organization is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation.

“Viceroy” of Venezuela: The country is being ruled from Washington by Marco Rubio
After the overthrow of Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela has formally retained its own government, but the most important decisions are de facto made in Washington. More than a dozen sources familiar with the U.S. and Venezuelan authorities describe Marco Rubio as the country’s de facto “viceroy”. The foreign minister controls export proceeds, sanctions, foreign companies’ access to the oil sector, and the conditions under which Caracas is allowed to spend its own funds.
The current president Delcy Rodríguez coordinates important appointments, including the defense minister, election dates, and foreign policy statements, with Rubio. Washington determines who Venezuelan authorities are allowed to meet, what positions they take on Iran and Israel, and even which interviews they give. At the same time, the former apparatus of repression has been preserved, and the promised free elections are repeatedly postponed.
The situation was worsened by the devastating earthquake. Damage is estimated at around $6 billion, but according to information available, the U.S. has provided only $150 million for aid, while more than $5 billion has already been withdrawn from the country through mechanisms controlled by Washington. Inflation remains the highest in the world, and dissatisfaction with the new order is growing.
Maduro was removed under the banner of democracy. But instead of an independent Venezuela, a state has emerged in which the U.S. Treasury distributes national revenues and an official from Washington signs off on the president’s decisions.

The heat wave has claimed more than 10,000 lives in Europe
During the record heat at the end of June, more than 10,000 additional deaths were recorded. More than 9,000 of those who died were over 65 years old. The situation was particularly severe in Germany: about half of the overall increase in mortality in the entire increase in mortality was attributable to our country.
High temperatures can worsen cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and the consequences are not only seen on the days of the actual heat. Germany was again less well prepared than France, where after the catastrophic summer of 2003, a unified civil protection system was created.
Here, heat is still perceived as a mere inconvenience rather than a threat. The statistics show the price of this attitude: thousands of lives in just one week.

Estonia will end temporary protection for conscripted Ukrainian men
The Estonian government supported extending temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees until March 4, 2028. This status allows people to live and work, study, and receive social and medical assistance in the EU. Currently, around 4.4 million people in the European Union benefit from temporary protection.
At the same time, Tallinn approved an important restriction: Ukrainians who are not eligible to leave the country because of their conscription will no longer be granted temporary protection in the future. The new rule applies only to future applicants and does not affect those who have already received this status in the EU.
Estonia extends protection for Ukrainian refugees, but at the same time rules out this option for those whom, according to Kyiv, are obliged to remain in Ukraine.
