♦️C-factor
هي القيمة الي نحصل عليها وقت نقسم عدد الأسطح المرتبطة / ع عدد الأسطح المو مرتبطة (حرة)
C- factor = bonded surface / unbounded surface
📍بشكل عام نحن عندنا ست اسطح لسن الي هي :-
1. Occlusal or incisal edge surface
2. Mesial surface
3. Distal surface
4. Labial or buccal surface
5. Palatial or lingual surface
6. The floor surface
📌ف مثلا
1. Class I Cavity:
• Bonded surfaces: Mesial, Distal, Buccal, Lingual, Floor = 5
• Unbonded surface: Occlusal = 1
• C-factor = 5 / 1 = 5 ➜ أعلى قيمة
2. Class VI Cavity:
• Bonded surface: فقط سطح واحد ( floor)
• Unbonded:
Polymerization shrinkage (high stress)

Case -5-
56. A 24-year-old patient undergoes cavity preparation using a high-speed turbine. Despite using intermittent cutting, pulpal inflammation is later noted. Which of the following most likely contributed to pulpal injury in this scenario?
a. Use of tungsten carbide burs with crosscut flutes
b. Adequate water coolant during preparation
c. Minimal heat generation due to low pressure
d. Disruption of odontoblastic tight junctions
e. Conservative preparation depth preserving >2mm of dentin

55. Which factor best explains why a deeper cavity preparation increases the risk of pulp injury?
2 080
54. What is the primary cause of pulpal damage when the freshly cut dentin is excessively dried?

53. Which lining material is least irritating to the pulp due to its minimal cytotoxic effect?

52. Which of the following factors contributes most to thermal injury of the pulp during cavity preparation?

Case -4-
A 37-year-old female presents complaining of food impaction between her upper left molars following a Class II composite restoration done two weeks ago on tooth #15. She reports difficulty flossing and mild gum bleeding in that area. On clinical exam, floss shreds between #15 and #14, and radiographs confirm a distal overhang on the restoration of #15. Gingiva is inflamed in the interproximal area.
Which of the following is the MOST appropriate initial approach to manage this case?
A. Redo the entire composite restoration using a new matrix system
B. Use a surgical blade to access and remove the overhanging excess
C. Employ abrasive finishing strips threaded below the contact point to remove the overhang without damaging the contact
D. Use a high-speed diamond bur interproximally to quickly trim the excess composite
E. Prescribe chlorhexidine mouthwash and monitor the patient for 2 weeks

- it is U shaped
- made of metal
- it might interfere with the x-ray , it should be removed before taking the x-ray
2. Type B ( Starvisi frame)
- it is U shaped
- made from radiolucent plastic & nylon materials
-It is regarded as a suitable substitute for Young’s frame
3. Type C (Nygard Ostby frame)
