Some benefits from the life of Imam Malik: 💡His mother was a key figure in his childhood. She nurtured him, just like many of the other mothers of great A’immah. There’s a lesson in this for sisters: do not settle. Learn Arabic, speak it, so your children can learn it and not have to go through the struggle you did. Learn and have a strong understanding in Aqeedah, so your children don’t ever question their religion. We often say we wish we had practicing parents/ grew up in that environment. We can’t change the past, but we can change, بإذن الله, what our children have 💡He would seek permission before giving fatawa: In a less severe example — how can you know when you’re ready to teach? One way is by asking your teacher, just like Imam Malik asked his teachers, if you are ready 💡Always be in your best state for your lessons. Being clean and beautifying yourself in the shari’ way is one of the most respectable attributes you can have. Be like Imam Malik, prepare for your durus as though you are about to sit with the Prophet ﷺ himself 💡His Trial: he refused to give a false fatwa to the ruler, hence leading him to being beaten and his shoulder dislocated. This shows his firmness in the religion and his desire to please Allaah only 💡”I don’t know” was his response to a lot of questions. Why do we today feel like we can give answers to questions so easily? لا أدري نصف العلم رحمه الله

📜 Biographies of the 4 A’immah: Imam Malik رحمه الله [93 - 179 AH] Malik Ibn Anas Ibn Malik Ibn Abi ‘Amir Al-Asbahi, Abu Abdillah, Imam of Daar Al-Hijrah. He was the Imam of the second school of Fiqh — the Maliki Madhab. When he was a child, he told his mother he was interested in seeking knowledge and writing a Hadith. She adorned him with his clothing for knowledge and imamah, then she said: “Go to Rabee’, learn from his Adab before his knowledge.” At just 21 years old, he began to give fatawa and taught the people, he said, “I did not give fatawa until I asked someone more knowledgeable than me, ‘Do you see me as qualified for this?’ I asked Rabee’ and Yahya bin Sa’eed, and they instructed me to do so.” He also said: “I did not give fatawa until I asked 70 people to testify I’m fit for this.” When he would intend to go to a Majlis of Hadith, he would make wudhu for Salah, he would wear his best most beautiful clothes, he would fragrance himself, he would comb his beard. Sometimes, he would make ghusl, not just wudhu for it. If anyone would raise their voice over the Hadith, he would remind them of the ayah from Surah al-Hujurat “Do not raise your voice over the voice of the Prophet.” ﷺ. He has been testified to be expert in fiqh, Hadith, the state of the narrators. He would not give a fatwa unless he was certain of it, and if he wasn’t, he is famously known to say لا أدري “I don’t know.” He is famously known for the golden chain, the most authentic chain of narration by the agreement of Ahl al-Hadith, and his authoring of Al Muwatta, a book Imam Shafi'i praised as the most authentic book after the Qur’an (before Sahih al-Bukhari was compiled). He was born in Madinah in 93AH where he spent his life and passed away in 179AH. 👥 His teachers: • Naafi’ • Rabee’ • Al-Zuhri • Hashim bin ‘Urwah 👥 His students: • Muhammad bin Dinar (d. 183AH) • Abdul Azeez bin Abi Hazim • Uthman bin ‘Isa bin Kanatha • Abdul Rahman bin Khalid al-Iskandrani • Abdul Rahman Al Qasim • Imam Al Shafi’ And other than then 🏛️ Usul of his Madhab: 1. Differences between ضرورة وحاجة As you can see, it’s not possible to define the Arabic word with one single English word

Correction: a حاجة is better translated to a “need”. A ضرورة is better translated to a necessity

من أحب أن يبسط له في رزقه، وينسأ له في أثره، فليصل رحمه Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who desires ample provisions and his life be prolonged, should maintain good ties with his blood relations". May Allaah forgive any shortcomings
