Deloitte University is a huge campus. Apart from learning facilities and labs, it has hotels, recreational areas, restaurants and coffee shops that all belong to Deloitte, and are therefore free for employees. Just a little room tour

I’m back at Deloitte university for a leadership conference! Last time when I came here in November 2024, it was for newly hired students. Now, since we already started, we are coming here for the second time. Deloitte university was the BEST experience. I’m so excited to be back.

You can’t conclusively say one is better than the other. I factually put forward most things that set these two apart

Great observation. ACCA, which stands for association of chartered certified accountants, is a respected certification program for accounting&finance professionals practicing in countries that follow IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), including our country Uzbekistan. CPA, which stands for certified public accountant, is a prestigious license for professionals practicing in the US, which follows a set of principles set by the governing bodies of the United States. ACCA is a great choice for anyone who practices outside the US, because the barriers to entry are lower (you generally don’t need to be a college graduate and there are no credit requirements). CPA, on the other hand, requires 150 credit hours, which generally translates to a 4-year bachelor program and a 1-year Master’s program. With the US CPA, you can practice anywhere in the world in the long term, esp Middle East. With the ACCA, you can practice anywhere apart from the US.

This is very very useful. CPA isn’t just someone who prepares books. It’s someone who prepares financials, analyzes cash flows, makes strategy and influences decision making to a large extent. As a CPA, audit and tax isn’t all you can do. A lot of CPAs are in FP&A (Financial planning and analysis), serve as financial advisors and wealth management consultants. And becoming a CPA isn’t for everybody - it requires 5 years of higher education in total and passing a rigorous 4-part exam. With a growing investing landscape in Uzbekistan, I can personally see CPAs becoming a big necessity in the coming few years. Look over what I have sent, you’ll certainly find it useful.

What I have learned about Deloitte after the first “immersion” week: Deloitte has existed for nearly 200 years now. It’s the first ever auditing entity in the world. How did they keep reputation and grow more and more over time? 1) The main driver of their organizational success from what I have seen is “people-driven” approach. Deloitte highly values the people working for it. Employees are given plenty of resources. Some I can list is large yearly bonuses, continuous development opportunities, and top-notch amenities wherever they go for work. Just to give you an example, Deloitte utilizes an irs own booking platform for employee lodging, flights, and meals. Whenever you need to travel outside the work office, you can use this platform to create your itinerary, and all flights are first class, and all hotels are 5-star hotels. Inside all offices across the US, there are free snack station, high quality coffee blends, gyms, recreational facilities, well being rooms, and regular “happy hours” for employees. Apparently, the turnover rate is low, and professionals bring more and more value to the firm. 2) Integrity and trust. Deloitte is the most trusted organization among investors. Integrity is stressed to an extent where employees constantly use compliance tools to ensure over and over again that they don’t have any commingling financial relationships with entities they audit. If Deloitte finds out you have stocks within the affiliate of a company Deloitte is auditing, and you are within that engagement, you automatically get disengaged. They use highly advanced tracking AI tools to flag such relationships as soon as they occur. Every other big firm follows this practice, but Deloitte stands out in how strictly it enforces it. This is just one example of how integrity gets established. 3) Talent. Deloitte hires top-notch talent for its positions. There is almost no auditor in the firm without the CPA license, and accordingly Bachelor’s “and” Master’s degrees. All professionals get selected not only based on educational background, but also communication, behavioral patterns, professionalism, and etc. When you are interviewing for Deloitte, apart from the technical interview rounds, you go through multiple layers of behavioral interviews. In these interviews, the question of “how this candidate will come across to our clients” continually gets circled back to. Many more factors, but this what I’ve noticed so far! Have a great day!

Growing up, saying “good night” to parents and hugging them was a tradition in our family. It was such a big deal that if we forgot to do it once in a while, we would hear a 2 hour lecture on respect, structure, and coordination. It might’ve seemed as too extra at that time, but I now realize how good of a lesson that was. Most people take greeting for granted - saying “hi” or “bye” is not a big deal for them. But all productive conversations, relationships, and constructive collaborations begin with a good handshake. That first and last impression matters a lot, and I am infinitely thankful for the household who made this a foundational lesson for me.

Also, I’m thinking about a project through which we would raise funds to donate. I want to start teaching accounting of IFRS (International financial reporting standards) and GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) to students in Uzbekistan. It will be free to every student with extreme financial hardship. Those who can pay, it’ll be a small charge of $20-30 dollars per month. EVERY PENNY that comes through this course will be donated to families doing complex surgeries on their kids. Leave reactions if you like this idea and would like to become part of it.

After every win, there’s a disappointment. I’ve been studying so hard for CPA over the past 2 months. I’m doing Financial Accounting & Reporting first, since this is known to be the hardest section with an estimated pass rate of 39%. I did a practice test today and got 2/10. I’m very disappointed, but at the same time reassured I’m not doing enough. Will be sharing that journey here more

Not interested in soccer but today’s game means a lot to me. Uzbekistan’s flag is all around, including inside our office. It makes me so proud. Excited to see our team win today’s game, IA❤️🇺🇿 I HAVE A feeling inside we are gonna win. Let’s see
