Nikto ____ __ _ Nikto is an open-source web server scanner that is used to identify vulnerabilities, outdated software, and misconfigurations in web servers. It performs comprehensive tests against web servers to find potential security issues. Key Features: 🔵Vulnerability Detection: Scans for over 6,700 potentially dangerous files and programs. 🔵Outdated Software Identification: Detects outdated versions of more than 1,250 servers. 🔵Configuration Issues: Identifies insecure configurations, such as default files and misconfigured permissions. 🔵SSL Testing: Checks for issues in SSL/TLS certificates. Limitations: 🔴No Stealth: Nikto is not stealthy; its scans are easily detectable by intrusion detection systems (IDS). 🔴Basic Tool: It does not exploit vulnerabilities; it only identifies potential issues. IPsec (Internet Protocol Security) ____ __ _ IPsec is a suite of protocols designed to ensure the security of data communications over an IP network by authenticating and encrypting each IP packet. Commonly used for VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) to secure traffic over untrusted networks, such as the internet. Key Components: 🟢Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP): Provides confidentiality, along with optional authentication and integrity. It encrypts the payload of the IP packet. 🟢Authentication Header (AH): Offers authentication and integrity but does not provide encryption. It ensures the data has not been tampered with and verifies the sender. 🟢Internet Key Exchange (IKE): Facilitates the negotiation of security associations and keys. It automates the process of creating and managing security policies and cryptographic keys. IPsec operates in two modes: 🟩Transport Mode: Only the payload of the IP packet is encrypted and/or authenticated. 🟩Tunnel Mode: The entire IP packet is encrypted and/or authenticated, then encapsulated into a new IP packet. Functions: 🔴Confidentiality: Encrypts the data to protect it from eavesdroppers. 🔴Integrity: Ensures that the data has not been altered during transit. 🔴Authentication: Verifies the identity of the communicating parties. 🔴Anti-replay: Protects against replay attacks by ensuring each packet is unique.

3-Way Handshake ____ __ _ The 3-way handshake is a process used in TCP/IP networks to establish a reliable connection between a client and a server. This method ensures that both parties are synchronized and ready for data transmission. Steps of the 3-Way Handshake: 1️⃣SYN (Synchronize): *️⃣ Client to Server: The client initiates the connection by sending a TCP packet with the SYN flag set. This packet includes an initial sequence number (ISN) for the connection. *️⃣ Purpose: To request a connection and synchronize sequence numbers. 2️⃣SYN-ACK (Synchronize-Acknowledge): *️⃣ Server to Client: The server responds to the client's SYN packet with a SYN-ACK packet. This packet includes the server's own ISN and acknowledges the client's ISN by setting the ACK flag. *️⃣ Purpose: To acknowledge the client's request and provide its own sequence number for synchronization. 3️⃣ACK (Acknowledge): *️⃣ Client to Server: The client sends an ACK packet back to the server, acknowledging the server's ISN. *️⃣  Purpose: To confirm the receipt of the server's SYN-ACK packet and finalize the connection setup.
