Australia has launched an investigation into Telegram, accusing it of failing to adequately combat pro-terrorism content, Reuters reports. The Office of the eSafety Commissioner stated that the investigation was initiated because Telegram failed to remove videos of terrorist executions and mass shootings, including the attacks in Christchurch and Buffalo. Telegram could face a fine of up to $38 million. A representative of the messaging app has already stated that Telegram intends to challenge the allegations in court.

JUST IN - Russia declares Telegram CEO Pavel Durov as internationally wanted for alleged charges of abetting terrorism. Russia's FSB has charged the Telegram founder with aiding terrorism and issued a warrant for his arrest, alleging the messenger and social media platform was used by Ukrainian intelligence to coordinate attacks inside Russia.
