He is perfect, self-sufficient, and completely free of need, while everything depends upon Him. 🌙 Reflection There is something deeply humbling about realizing how dependent we are. Every moment of our existence depends upon Allah. We need Him before we even know that we need Him. Yet Allah does not need us. We love people, care about our work, value our possessions, and have hopes and dreams for our future. But everything we love besides Allah is limited. We often think that being busy means we have less time for ibadah. But what if we changed the way we looked at our daily routines? Ibadah is not limited to salah, Qur’an, dhikr, or time spent in the masjid. With a sincere intention, even the ordinary parts of our day can become acts of worship. Going to work can be ibadah when we intend to earn halal income and fulfill our responsibilities. Cooking can be ibadah when we intend to nourish ourselves or our family. Cleaning can be ibadah when we intend to maintain a home that is pleasing to Allah. Resting can even be ibadah when we intend to regain our strength so that we can worship Allah and fulfill our responsibilities. This doesn’t mean we should neglect our dedicated acts of worship. Salah still deserves its place in our day, and we should continue making time for Qur’an, dhikr, du‘a, and other acts of worship. But we don’t have to wait for a completely free schedule before turning back to Allah. We can remember Him while driving, make dhikr while doing chores, listen to beneficial reminders while getting ready, say Bismillah before we begin our tasks, and make our intentions before doing the things we already have to do. A busy life does not have to be a life distant from Allah. Sometimes, the goal isn’t to find more hours in the day. It’s to bring Allah into the hours we already have. So whatever fills your day, don’t underestimate the opportunity for reward within it. Sacred months? Allah mentions in the Quran, Surat At-Tawbah that: "Indeed, the number of months with Allāh is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allāh [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion [i.e., way], so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allāh is with the righteous [who fear Him]." Islam goes by the Lunar Calender, so a month begins at the start of each new moon. Unlike the Gerogarian Calender that follows the Earths revolution around the Sun to total a year. In this verse, Allah also stipulates that there are four sacred months in the year. So which four months of the year are the sacred months? We obtain this from the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ. Narrated by Abu Bakra: The Prophet (ﷺ) said. "(The division of time has turned to its original form which was current when Allah created the Heavens and the Earths. The year is of twelve months, out of which four months are sacred: Three are in succession Dhul-Qa' da, Dhul-Hijja and Muharram, and (the fourth is) Rajab of (the tribe of) Mudar which comes between Jumadi-ath-Thaniyah and Sha ban."
