Indian Army Day - January 15th Observed annually to commemorate Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief in 1949 . Cariappa replaced British General Sir Francis Roy Bucher. The main Indian Army Day Parade for 2026 is being hosted in Jaipur, Rajasthan on Mahal Road, Jagatpura. The 86-km four-lane National Highway project includes 35 km of elevated road through Kaziranga National Park. MoEFCC issues notification declaring Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary in Aravalli mountain range as Eco-Sensitive Zone. ESZ extends from 0 to 1 kilometre around the sanctuary's boundary, covering an area of approximately 243 square kilometres. The sanctuary is located in the Rajsamand, Udaipur, and Pali districts of Rajasthan. The sanctuary was established in 1971.

Spain formally joined the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI), an India-led voluntary framework aimed at ensuring a safe, secure, and stable maritime domain.  The announcement coincided with the launch of the India-Spain Dual Year of Culture, Tourism, and Artificial Intelligence, celebrating seven decades of diplomatic relations. IPOI was launched at the East Asia Summit in 2019. IPOI is an open, inclusive, and non-prescriptive framework that utilizes existing regional mechanisms.
