Starting August 1, 2026, Microsoft will raise Xbox prices: 512 GB models by $100, 1 TB models by $150, and discontinue the 2 TB Series X. New prices: Series S from $499.99; Series X (no disc) from $749.99; Series X (with disc) from $799.99. This change does not mark the first Xbox price increase. Last October, Microsoft already raised prices by $20 to $70. Microsoft representatives say they hoped to avoid another round of increases. As a compromise, Microsoft plans to introduce new purchase options. These options include installment plans and interest-free financing. Microsoft also works with retail partners. The goal focuses on official sales programs for pre owned consoles at lower prices.

Android 17 brings native support for LHDC v5 Codec Android 17 has silently added native support for the Low Latency High-Definition Audio Codec (LHDC v5). This expands high-bitrate options beyond Sony’s LDAC on Google Pixels, allowing users to stream 96kHz high-resolution audio to compatible hardware. LHDC 5.0 can theoretically top out at 24-bit/192kHz with a maximum data bitrate of 1Mbps, compared to AAC’s 16-bit/44.1kHz with a bitrate of 256kbps. However, audio sources with higher quality than LHDC will be dynamically compressed and downsampled to fit within Bluetooth’s bandwidth constraints. On Oplus earbuds & with Android 17, you can switch to 96kHz sample rate for Bluetooth Audio and subsequently turn on Hi-Res mode in the HeyMelody app (the companion app for OnePlus earbuds). Hi everyone Sorry for not such a happy message from myself, but unfortunately one individual has found themselves blocked from ever downloading the ROM again due to managing to get around my limits and download the ROM file ~50,000 times in 1 day. If that was the end of it, I would just add a specific daily limit for them, but unfortunately due to their actions, they've increased the cost of the storage this month almost 3x the normal. This month alone will be ~$100 now once the last 10 days are over and counted. In response of this, I've added their IP address to the block list at the ISP level, and will continue doing so moving forward. I know this is probably no-one here, but I wanted to make you all aware of this, and to be transparent about monitoring this somewhat actively and hopefully dissuade anyone from doing this in the future. - Aidan

Volkswagen Blocked its app from working on custom ROMs Apparently, Volkswagen has blocked its app from working on phones using custom roms like GrapheneOS or LineageOS. Users can no longer log in or control their cars via the app. Volkswagen support replies that:

On devices on which alternative operating systems (so-called custom ROMs, e.g. GrapheneOS, LineageOS, or similar solutions) are installed, limitations or a lack of functionality of the Volkswagen app may occur. These systems are not part of the supported application environment of Volkswagen AG for the Volkswagen app, which is why we unfortunately cannot offer technical support in such cases.

The reason for this is that the Volkswagen app relies on security-relevant system components and certified Android standards to ensure reliable and secure use of our digital services.
