Children of ALL ages love the Confederate barrel train! #VAFlaggerPicnic2024
Corporal John D. Tanner of Company F 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. The 28th Virginia fought in almost every major battle of the War Between the States with The Army of Northern Virginia from the First Battle of Manassas to Appomattox. The regiment suffered heavy casualties during the war. When the war started the unit had 600 men in total and when the unit surrendered at Appomattox only 3 officers and 51 men survived. We don’t know what happened to Corporal Tanner, but we will make sure he is not forgotten.

Flagger tip of the day: Keep a supply of stick flags with you at all times. Look for opportunities to plant flags during the course of your day...to honor our Confederate dead... and decorate our monuments, markers, and grave sites.

When the War ended, Cooke went to Richmond, and became a merchant. He was an active member of the community and was one of the founders of the Confederate Old Soldiers Home in Richmond.

They want our monuments gone because they remind them of the time, not so long ago, when men of honor dared to stand up to tyranny, and did so with unmatched courage and valor…and that scares the living daylights out of them.

Comparing Confederate soldiers or their descendants to Nazis is ludicrous. The grandsons of the men we honor defeated the Nazi army, many of them carrying the flags of their grandfathers with them overseas. #HeritageOfDuty #HeritageOfHonor
