They simply know something you don't know yet.
A lot of people see others making money online and immediately assume they are lucky, connected, or exceptionally talented but it's not always the true
Most of the people earning online today started with little or no knowledge. The difference is that they decided to learn a skill and stayed consistent. No body making money online is earning from nothing.
Someone learned graphic design and now gets paid to design flyers, logos, and social media posts.
Someone learned video editing and now works with content creators and businesses.
Someone learned how to use AI tools and is saving time, getting clients, and making more money.
Someone started a YouTube channel, stayed consistent, and is now earning from content they created months ago.
The internet has created opportunities that did not exist years ago, but these opportunities favour people who have valuable skills to offer
This is why I keep talking about learning digital skills.
The skill you learn today can become the income source you depend on tomorrow.
Ask yourself!
"What skill can I learn that people will pay for?"
That one decision can change a lot for you.
7 financial books every person serious about their financial life should read.
If nobody taught you about money while growing up, don't worry.
These books can teach you lessons that may save you years of financial mistakes.
And If you are also trying to improve your finances, start with these 7 books;
1. Rich Dad Poor Dad
This book challenges the traditional belief that getting a good job is the only path to financial success. Robert Kiyosaki explains the difference between assets and liabilities and why the wealthy focus on acquiring income-generating assets. After reading this book, you will start looking at money from a completely different perspective.
2. The Psychology of Money
Many people think wealth is about intelligence, but this book proves it's mostly about behavior. Morgan Housel explains why some people with high incomes remain broke while others with average incomes build wealth. You'll learn lessons about patience, saving, investing, and avoiding financial mistakes caused by emotions.
3. Think and Grow Rich
Based on years of studying successful people, this classic book teaches the power of goal setting, persistence, self-belief, and taking action. While it's not strictly a finance book, it helps you develop the mindset needed to achieve financial success and other major life goals.
4. The Richest Man in Babylon
Written through simple stories set in ancient Babylon, this book teaches timeless money principles that still work today. It emphasizes paying yourself first, living below your means, investing wisely, and making your money work for you. The lessons are simple but powerful.
5. The Millionaire Fastlane
This book challenges the idea that you must work for 40 years before becoming wealthy. MJ DeMarco explains how entrepreneurship, value creation, and scalable businesses can accelerate wealth building. It's a great read for anyone who wants more than just a paycheck.
6. Your Money or Your Life
This book helps you understand the true value of money and how it relates to your time and energy. It teaches practical ways to manage spending, eliminate waste, and build financial independence. Many readers say it completely changed their relationship with money.
7. Increase Your Financial IQ
Another powerful book by Robert Kiyosaki. This book goes beyond earning money and teaches you how money really works. You'll learn about financial education, managing risks, understanding investments, and making smarter money decisions. It's a great book for anyone who wants to improve their financial knowledge and stop making costly money mistakes.
The truth is that many graduates are betting their future on opportunities that only a small percentage of people will get. If your family is financially comfortable, you may have the luxury of taking that risk.
But if your parents are struggling and sacrificing everything to keep you in school, you cannot afford to gamble with your future. If your father is borrowing money to pay school fees...
If your mother is using her last savings to keep you in school...If your family is skipping important needs so you can get an education...
Then you must think beyond getting a degree.
You must think about return on investment (ROI).
Education is an investment.
And every investment should have a realistic chance of producing results.
Imagine paying over N4 million in tuition, accommodation, feeding, transportation, textbooks, handouts, and other expenses over four or five years.
Only to start riding Keke or bike after graduation because there is no job opportunity available for the course you choose to study.
That is a painful situation for both the graduate and the family.
In some schools today, a self con rent can cost over N300,000 excluding feeding and school fees. By graduation, millions of naira would have been spent.
This is why students from struggling families must be strategic.Don't STUDY A USELESS COURSE IF YOUR FAMILY IS STRUGGLING, Don't say the course was thrown at you, study hard and write jamb as much as you can.
If you must choose a course with low employment opportunities start learning a skill immediately not after graduation, not during NYSC and not when unemployment starts frustrating you.
Before reaching 200 level, you should already be building a skill that can generate income.
You can even learn skills that allow you to work remotely for clients around the world.
Don't wait until graduation before looking for work.
Start applying for internships.
Start freelancing.
Start building a portfolio.
Start building experience.
By the time your mates are standing in long queues after NYSC searching for jobs, you could already have clients, experience, and a source of income.
I will keep repeating this.
If you come from a struggling family, learn a skill, don't depend fully on that degree with no good value in nigeria
If your course eventually works out, great.
If it doesn't, your skill becomes your safety net.
DON'T GO TO THE UNIVERSITY TO STUDY A USELESS COURSE IF YOUR FAMILY IS STRUGGLING
I wrote this and a lot of people said, "No course is useless."
In Nigeria, if you come from a struggling family and your main reason for going to university is to study a course, graduate, get a job, and help your family financially, then there are courses you need to think very carefully about before choosing
When I say "useless," I don't mean the course itself has no value. I mean it may be useless to your specific goal if your goal is to use it to put food on your table after graduation
The problem is not the course itself, the problem is the Nigerian job market.
In an ideal country, every course should have enough opportunities for graduates. Unfortunately, that is not the reality we are living in. NIGERIA IS DIFFERENT.
Let me explain.
If you go to a teaching hospital today, depending on how big the hospital is, you might find between 100 and 300 medical doctors working there.
Now let's look at some other professions.
That same hospital that has hundreds of doctors might only need:
• 3 Microbiologists
• 2 Biochemists
• 3 Medical Laboratory Scientists
And that's all.
Meanwhile, the number of nurses might be double the number of doctors because hospitals need many nurses to care for patients daily.
Now compare this to the number of graduates universities produce every year for those specific courses.
A single federal university can graduate over 150 Biochemistry students every year.
Over four years, that's about 600 graduates from just one school.
Now multiply that by the number of universities in Nigeria offering the same course.
Thousands of graduates are entering the labour market every year.
Yet the hospital that needs only two Biochemists may not even employ new ones until someone retires after 30 or 35 years or someone dies and if that happens, the next person may likely get in by connections.
Do the maths.
The competition is not balanced.
Before anyone misunderstands me, let me say this clearly.
Biochemists are not only supposed to work in hospitals.
We have:
• Food Biochemists
• Pharmaceutical Biochemists
• Industrial Biochemists
• Researchers
The same applies to Microbiologists and many other science courses.
But now ask yourself:
How many pharmaceutical companies do we have in Nigeria?
How many food manufacturing companies exist?
How many research centres are actively hiring?
How many forensic laboratories do we even have?
And among those companies, how many employ 50, 100, or 200 Biochemists at a time?
Yet universities continue producing millions of graduates every year.
This is not to mock any course.
It is simply to bring people back to reality.
Many students choose courses based on let me just go to school without checking whether there is enough demand for that profession.
Four or five years later, they discover that jobs are extremely limited.
Let's even look at another example.
Someone studies Philosophy.
After graduation, people tell them:
"Don't worry, you can work anywhere."
But think about that statement carefully.
If after spending four years studying a course, the best career advice people can give you is that you can work anywhere, shouldn't that make you ask some serious questions?
What exactly is the direct career path?
What specific industries are actively looking for graduates of that course?
How many vacancies exist compared to the number of graduates produced every year?
These are questions students should ask before spending years and millions of naira pursuing a degree.
Now let's talk about banks.
Banks are one of the few places that employ graduates from almost every discipline.
Whether you studied History, English, Philosophy, Biochemistry, Sociology, or Political Science, a bank might employ you.
But how many people do banks employ every year?
A few hundred and some not as real staffs.
Now compare that number to the millions of graduates entering the labour market annually.
The numbers simply don't match.
If YOU STUDIED THESE COURSES IN NIGERIA, THESE ARE WHAT YOU CAN DO TO MAKE MONEY.
Before I list them, I need you to understand something. Nigeria is hard and there are hardly enough jobs to accommodate the number of graduates being churned out yearly. One of the best things you can do is to learn how to create jobs for yourself.
It won't be easy but nothing good comes easy.
1. If you studied Physiotherapy, start a local massage or rehabilitation center. It may sound small but if you are consistent and market yourself well, you will grow. Go to local bone setters and learn from them too. You already have the certificate, so combining both knowledge will make you more advanced. There are lots of people with stroke and walking problems you can help.
2. If you studied courses like Microbiology, Biochemistry or Med Lab, look for someone in the same line and partner with them to open a laboratory. Labs don't need to be too advanced at first. Focus on running simple tests till you expand and grow.
3. If you studied Physical and Health Education, create a Facebook page, YouTube channel or TikTok page. Teach people how to exercise, stretch and explain the benefits. Talk about the fact that you actually studied this in school so people know you are not just teaching out of vibes.
4. If you studied Food and Nutrition, you can teach people about weight loss, keto diets, diabetic diets and healthy eating.
Social media has made things easier because you don't always need a physical location. If you keep giving free knowledge consistently, with time you can start charging for consultations.
5. If you studied English or Linguistics, you can become a writer, proofreader, copywriter or even create a social media account where you teach people good pronunciation and communication skills.
6. If you studied Mass Communication, start interviewing business owners, create content online, become a presenter, social media manager or content strategist.
7. If you studied Computer Science, don't just wait for jobs.
Start a computer training center for adults and kids. You don't need fancy laptops. Look for old computers or desktops, rent a small place if you can and promote your services.
Teach people how to use computers, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other basic computer skills. You can even run online classes.
8. If you studied Law, start a legal consulting page on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok.
Teach people about their rights, how to write a will, tenant and landlord issues, business registration and basic contract drafting.
Many Nigerians have legal questions but cannot afford expensive lawyers. You can charge affordable consultation fees and also help people prepare documents or register businesses.
9. If you studied Agriculture or Animal Science, start a farming consultancy.
Create content teaching people modern farming methods, how to start poultry, fish farming or vegetable gardening even in small spaces.
Many people want to farm but don't know how to start. You can sell seedlings, offer farm management services or teach paid online classes on farming. You can also start a small farm yourself.
10. If you studied Psychology or Social Work, start a mental health awareness page.
Teach people about stress management, relationships, parenting and emotional wellbeing. Nigerians are gradually becoming more open to mental health conversations.
You can offer affordable counseling or coaching sessions online and even partner with NGOs for awareness programs.
A lot of people will be shocked that Nigerians actually pay for therapy, but yes, they do.
If you are qualified, you don't always need to carry CVs around before you start making money. Start putting yourself out there.
🌍 Another Day, Another Opportunity to Earn in Foreign Currency!
Did you know you can earn in US Dollars while living in Nigeria?
Remote jobs allow you to work from the comfort of your home using your laptop and a reliable internet connection. Most remote roles require a computer, as many tasks are designed for desktop use.
Many of these opportunities offer weekly payments, with tasks that may pay between $19 and $50 or more, depending on the type of work available.
Your earning potential depends on the amount of work you complete, your skills, and the opportunities you qualify for. Some dedicated remote workers are able to earn up to $1,000 or more per week, though results vary and are not guaranteed.
With the rising cost of living and inflation, relying solely on jobs that pay in Naira can be challenging. Earning in foreign currency can provide greater financial stability and increase your income.

Start your journey toward earning in dollars today!
Instead of studying Anatomy or Physiology (not needed in hospitals, they are purely academic) pls study Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Dentistry, Orthodontics, Optometry (are highly needed in hospitals and private practice)
Instead of studying Pharmacology ( not needed in hospitals, it is purely academic) pls study Pharmacy (highly needed in hospitals and private practice)
Instead of just doing Linguistics (purely academics) pls go and study Chinese language or German language or Spanish language or French language. Learn to speak an actual foreign language fluently. There is high demand for these in many international organisations and they pay in dollars
Those purely academic courses will make you a lecturer. Nothing wrong with being a lecturer. It’s just that lecturing jobs are harder to get and take longer to get unless you have a first class in that course.
Move away from courses that are purely academic without any practical skills that will give you an actual job
Move away from courses that give you just knowledge without any useful practical skills that are high in demand and solve real life problems for people
Courses with high in demand practical skills that solve real like problems for people will make you start earning immediately after graduation.
