💫 Sayyid al-Istighfār: The Best Prayer for Seeking Forgiveness Narrated Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allāh is: اللهم أنت ربي، لا إله إلا أنت ، خلقتني وأنا عبدك، وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي، فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6306] Transliteration: Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā ant, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduk, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā’istaṭaʿt, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt, abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayy, wa-abūʾu laka bidhanbī, fa’ighfir lī, fa-innahu lā yaghfir al-dhunūba illā ant. Translation: O Allāh, You are my Lord, there is no God but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise (to honour it) as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins but You.

A Muslim high school student in California says she received death threats after refusing to compete against and share locker rooms with a transgender athlete. Hadeel Hazameh, a former athlete at Jurupa Valley High School, says the backlash forced her to quit sports and graduate early. O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you - as it was for those before you - so perhaps you will become mindful of Allāh. Fast a prescribed number of days. But whoever of you is ill or on a journey, then let them fast an equal number of days after Ramaḍān. For those who can only fast with extreme difficulty, compensation can be made by feeding a needy person for every day not fasted. But whoever volunteers to give more, it is better for them. And to fast is better for you, if only you knew. Ramaḍān is the month in which the Qurʾān was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the decisive authority. So whoever is present this month, let them fast. But whoever is ill or on a journey, then let them fast an equal number of days after Ramaḍān. Allāh intends ease for you, not hardship, so that you may complete the prescribed period and proclaim the greatness of Allāh for guiding you, and perhaps you will be grateful. When My servants ask you [O Prophet] about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond with obedience to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided to the Right Way. [Sūrah al-Baqarah, Verse 183-186]

Duʿāʾ to recite after breaking the fast. Marwān ibn Sālim al-Muqaffaʿ said: I saw ibn ʿUmar رضي الله عنه holding his beard with his hand and cutting what exceeded the handful of it. He (ibn ʿUmar) said that the Prophet ﷺ said when he broke his fast: ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ [Dhahabaẓ-ẓamaʾu, wabtallatil-ʿurūqu, wa thabatal-ʾajru ʾin shāʾ Allāh] The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allāh wills. [Sunan Abī Dāwūd 2357, Graded Hasan]

✨ The Premier League and English Football League have announced that games will have a short pause to allow Muslim players to break their fasts during Ramaḍān. With sunset in the UK ranging from about 17:00 to 19:00 during this period, the only games that could see a break in play will be Saturday's 17:30 kick-off and Sunday's 16:30 kick-off. As has been the case in previous years, club captains alongside match officials will find a natural pause in the game to allow Muslim players or match officials to break their fast. Play will not stop while matches are in mid-flow but at the earliest convenient moment during a goal-kick, free-kick or throw-in.

Narrated Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه‎ Allāh's Messenger ﷺ said, "When Ramaḍān begins, the gates of Paradise are opened." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1898]

Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه‎ reported Allāh's Messenger ﷺ as saying: "Fasting is a shield. So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, 'I am fasting.’” The Prophet ﷺ added, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. (Allāh says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times.’” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1894]

Narrated by ibn al-ʿAbbās رضي الله عنه‎: Allāh's Messenger ﷺ was the most generous of all the people, and he used to reach the peak in generosity in the month of Ramaḍān when Jibrīl met him. Jibrīl used to meet him every night of Ramaḍān to teach him the Qurʾān. Allāh's Messenger ﷺ was the most generous person, even more generous than the strong uncontrollable wind (in readiness and haste to do charitable deeds). [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6]
