Saudi Arabia asked residents to look for the crescent of the holy month of Ramaḍān on the evening of Tuesday 17th February 2026, which coincides with 29th Shaʿbān 1447 AH.

💫 Sayyid al-Istighfār: The Best Prayer for Seeking Forgiveness Narrated Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allāh is: اللهم أنت ربي، لا إله إلا أنت ، خلقتني وأنا عبدك، وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي، فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6306] Transliteration: Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā ant, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduk, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā’istaṭaʿt, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt, abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayy, wa-abūʾu laka bidhanbī, fa’ighfir lī, fa-innahu lā yaghfir al-dhunūba illā ant. Translation: O Allāh, You are my Lord, there is no God but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise (to honour it) as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins but You.

🚨 Saif al Islam Gaddafi, the son of Libya's late leader Muammar Gaddafi, was been shot dead by gunmen who broke into his home. The 53-year-old was killed during a "direct confrontation" with four armed men in the Libyan town of Zintan, south-west of the capital Tripoli.

Reminder: Tomorrow is Monday. The Prophet ﷺ used to fast on Mondays. Abū Qatāda al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه reported that Allāh's Messenger ﷺ was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me. [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1162e]

Remembering Hind Rajab: Two years ago on this day, 5 year-old Hind Rajab was brutally murdered by the occupation forces who fired 335 bullets at her from a tank. She was trapped in a car with her family in Gaza City while trying to escape the violence. Hind was on the phone with the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) for almost six hours, pleading for help after Israeli occupation forces shot her family members. During the call, the sound of gunshots was heard before communication was lost. A rescue ambulance was dispatched to save her, but it was later found destroyed, with the bodies of the two paramedics inside. Days later, Hind’s body was discovered in the same car alongside her dead relatives. Forensic evidence concluded that Israeli forces had clear visibility of Hind and the other civilians, proving that she was deliberately targeted. Further assessments revealed that the rescue ambulance dispatched to aid Hind was also attacked.

US warships, including the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and several destroyers, have arrived in the Middle East as tensions with Iran grow. This move increases US military presence in the region after former President Donald Trump warned Iran that its “time is running out” to make a deal on its nuclear programme. Trump said the United States wants Iran to agree not to develop nuclear weapons, and that failure to negotiate could lead to a strong military response. Iran has denied these claims, saying its nuclear programme is peaceful and not aimed at making bombs. Iranian leaders also say they are willing to negotiate under fair terms.
