Looking Back at a Milestone 🎓 | C5+O.N.E. Cohort 5 Graduation in Uzbekistan
We’re revisiting a special moment from the C5+O.N.E. Cohort 5 Graduation Ceremony in Tashkent, where participants, alumni, and partners gathered to recognize months of learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
The ceremony marked the successful completion of an intensive journey in business English, leadership, and career development while celebrating the lasting connections and opportunities created through the program. As our newest graduates join the growing C5+O.N.E. network, they continue to strengthen communities, build partnerships, and inspire positive change.
| 2 | 🎓 Exciting milestone in U.S.-Uzbekistan educational partnership!
On June 14–21, senior faculty from the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship (GSBE) in Tashkent visited Rutgers Business School in New Jersey, as part of the Faculty Enrichment Program (FEP), supported by the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent and administered by American Councils for International Education.
The visit is a key step in a collaboration between GSBE and Rutgers Business School to develop a new Executive MBA (EMBA) program for Uzbekistan's growing business community, focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, and strategic sectors central to the country's economy.
A second visit is planned for September as both institutions continue this landmark work together 🇺🇿🤝🇺🇸

Position Summary:
The C5 + O.N.E. (Opening Networks through English) English Language Teacher will be involved in a project that supports English language instruction for young professionals working in the fields of Economy throughout Central Asia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing American English language instruction and will report to a Lead Teacher, based in Tashkent, who will provide training and mentoring during the program.

| 4 | 🎓 Celebrating the Graduation of C5+O.N.E. Cohort 5 in Uzbekistan
On June 12, the C5+O.N.E. Program celebrated the graduation of Cohort 5 in Tashkent, bringing together more than 120 participants, alumni, teachers, and guests.
The ceremony featured remarks from Kim Chilmonik, Director of the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan, and Dinara Seytnazarova, Executive Director of American Councils for International Education in Uzbekistan. Ms. Chilmonik highlighted the importance of lifelong learning, initiative, and partnership—values that are at the heart of the C5+O.N.E. program.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of participants’ final projects, including English Habit App with AI, Career Hub 21, SkillBridge Central Asia, and Compass Career Path Academy.
With this graduation, the C5+O.N.E. alumni community in Uzbekistan has grown to more than 350 members, contributing to a regional network of over 1,200 alumni across Central Asia. | 3 364 |
| 5 | 🌟 The English Access Program Summer Intensive Sessions Across Uzbekistan
📚 Between May 29 and June 13, 2026, the English Access Program participants from 12 program sites across 9 regions of Uzbekistan took part in 12-day Summer Intensive Sessions held at their respective Access Program centers as part of the program curriculum.
🎯 The sessions focused on enhancing English language proficiency, presentation skills, and critical and creative thinking. Students explored a variety of topics, including education, digital literacy, workforce readiness, and cross-cultural communication. They also participated in engaging reading activities that strengthened both their language abilities and overall learning experience.
👩🏫 Throughout the program, Access teachers played a key role in its success through their dedication, guidance, and continuous support. At several sites, English Language Fellows worked closely with teachers, enriching the sessions through interactive activities, meaningful discussions, and hands-on learning experiences.
🏆 The program concluded with team presentations at each Access center, where students proudly demonstrated their progress. These presentations highlighted not only their improved English language skills but also their creativity, teamwork, confidence, and communication abilities.
🎉 Congratulations to all Access students, teachers, and English Language Fellows for their hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment in making this year’s Summer Intensive Sessions a remarkable success!

| 6 | 🎉 YPIP 2026 has officially launched!
On June 5, we welcomed 120 outstanding finalists to the Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) 2026 cohort in Uzbekistan.
For six years, YPIP has supported 250+ alumni in gaining real-world experience, growing professional networks, and building careers in business and STEM.
This summer, participants will intern with leading institutions like Coca-Cola Uzbekistan, Unilever, ACWA Power, and IT Park Uzbekistan.
The months ahead promise hands-on learning, mentorship, company visits, and more. We look forward to seeing all that this cohort will achieve. Welcome to the YPIP community!

| 7 | On June 3, the 14 Fellows of the 2026 Uzbekistan Business Leaders (UBL) Program arrived in the United States, marking the beginning of their four-week professional exchange.
🤝 On June 4, participants gathered in Washington, D.C. for the Arrival Orientation, where they received important information on professional life in the United States.
🎤 The Orientation featured opening remarks from American Councils President and CEO Lisa Choate, Ambassador (ret.) John Ordway, U.S. Department of State Deputy Director for the Office of Central Asian Affairs Alissa Bibb, and Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States Trade Counselor Okil Ubaydullaev.
🚀 Participants also took part in a professional development session led by NCRD Co-Founder Joe Kapp, learning more about creating long-term partnerships between businesses in the U.S. and Uzbekistan.

| 8 | 🚀 From Innovative Education to Modern Industry
💻 C5+O.N.E. Cohort 5 participants in Tashkent visited School 21, a free and innovative IT education initiative where learning happens through collaboration, peer-to-peer support, and hands-on projects.
During the visit, participants explored how future software engineers and digital specialists develop practical skills by solving real-world challenges together.
The experience highlighted the growing role of modern education in strengthening the digital economy and preparing the next generation workforce for rapidly evolving industries. 🌍📈
🌱➡️🧵A few days later, another group of participants visited GLOBAL TEXTILE to see how technology and industry come together in large-scale textile production.
Participants followed the journey of cotton from cleaning and spinning to weaving and fabric dyeing — while also exploring factory laboratories where modern technologies help improve fabric quality, durability, and color resistance.
The visit provided valuable insight into how innovation, technology, and manufacturing work hand in hand to support industrial development and global competitiveness. 🌐✨

| 9 | 🧩 YPIP 2026 Host Company Orientation Session
📍 On May 12, American Councils held the Host Company Orientation session for the 2026 cohort of the Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent, bringing together representatives from 50 national and international host companies and organizations, YPIP alumni, partners, and representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent.
🤝 The event provided an opportunity to discuss the structure of the program, expectations and responsibilities of host organizations, and the key components of the YPIP experience, including internships, mentorship and coaching activities, professional development sessions, networking opportunities, and company visits.
📈 This year also reflects continued growth for YPIP, with more than 2,100 applications received from students across Uzbekistan and 50 host companies partnering with the program.
🔗 The session also featured networking opportunities for attendees to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen partnerships ahead of the upcoming internship season beginning in June.

| 11 | 🌟 FLEX & YPIP Alumni Meetup Highlights 🎓
On April 24, alumni of the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program and Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) came together for a joint meetup. The session was also joined by Lisa Choate, President of American Councils for International Education.
The meetup started with an interactive ice-breaking session, where participants introduced themselves and shared how their programs shaped their personal and professional journeys.
The main workshop, led by Ulugbek Baymuradov (FLEX 2003, Stanford 2010), introduced the basics of how AI models work. Using satellite nightlight data, he demonstrated how machine learning, particularly convolutional neural networks, can analyze images to identify patterns and make predictions, such as estimating population or distinguishing regions.
By the end, participants gained a clearer, practical understanding of how AI models are built and applied using real-world data.
The event concluded with a coffee break, offering space to network, exchange ideas, and build new connections 🤝

American Councils Uzbekistan is seeking a Part-Time Intern to support the Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Part-Time Intern is responsible for day-to-day operations, administration, task management, data entry and interfacing with participants. As a member of the American Councils Uzbekistan team, the Part-Time Intern will also be expected to support and administer daily programming. This position is unpaid and reports to Program Assistant and the intern will work closely with the program staff members.

| 13 | 🌟 YPIP Alumni Meetup Highlights 🎓
On April 4, YPIP alumni came together for an engaging meetup and workshop with Sevara Ibrokhim, a UBL’22 alumna and Founder & CEO of Bukhari Creative Group.
During the session on Effective Networking Strategies, participants explored why networking matters, how to build a professional brand, and practical ways to connect and stay in touch. The session also included a pair activity where alumni practiced their elevator pitches and learned from each other.
Sevara shared insights from her own experience, showing how networking can lead to new opportunities and meaningful connections.
As always, the meetup was a great chance to reconnect, meet new alumni, and keep growing together 🤝
