Yesterday, for the first time in a while, I went to a local government meeting. A City Council workshop here in good ol' Bastrop, TX. I've been tracking the outrage over the Flock cameras for a while. Following it on social media, watching them pop up around town. Noticing when one of them comes down. My son and I even pulled over to take a picture of one that was cut. We had to honor the local heroes here in Bastrop.  So when I found out Flock was an agenda item for a city workshop, I figured I'd show up. See what the residents of Bastrop could muster in opposition. And maybe speak my mind a little. Sure enough, I got the chance to speak during citizens communication. Twice, actually. And I'll tell you what, it was a packed house. The council said it was the most people they'd ever had show up for one of these workshops. Person after person got up and spoke against Flock. One after another. Exactly one person registered as being in favor. And they didn't even speak. The Bastrop police chief spoke too. According to the DeFlock website there are around 30 Flock cameras in Bastrop. Only 12 of them are actually controlled by the Bastrop Police Department. Some of them were put in by the State of Texas, others are on private property like a big box store. ​​ And understand what "controlled" even means here. The cities don't own these cameras. They lease them from Flock. All the data gets sucked up to Flock. And Flock uses that data to train their AI models. So your little town isn't running a public safety program. Your little town is paying a subscription fee to feed a private mass surveillance system that answers to nobody you can vote out. RIP Dolly Parton, American icon. Visited Dollywood earlier this year with the family and leading up to it did a deep dive on the woman and her career. Absolutely loved walking through her museum on site and seeing her coat of many colors. Long story short, she was a total badass that built one hell of a legacy. We will miss you Dolly.

📣 We're kicking off the 75 Day Hard and Holy Challenge TOMORROW 08/24 This is a health challenge I host through my ministry, Freedom Family Fellowship.
