POTS symptoms disappear when I supplemented with Folinic Acid: THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE - but it may help those with kids who have MTHFR gene mutation variant, and who may have B12 and or iron deficiencies. My autistic 11 y.o. daughter developed POTS after a reaction to anaesthetics which depleted her B12, folate, and iron. Her symptoms were tachycardia, panic/anxiety type attacks, adrenaline dumps which were almost like seizures, dizziness, tinnitus, headaches, visual disturbances, and exhaustion. I began supplementing with extra sublingual B12 after getting blood tests when these symptoms developed after surgery. I knew nitrous oxide depletes B12 and iron in many people with MTHFR gene mutations. People kept telling me that "LEUCOVORIN", a high dose of Folinic Acid administered by prescription, "cures Autism". I don't believe in Autism "cures", but managing or reducing certain symptoms and deficiencies are always important. Instead of high dose Folinic Acid, I bought a liquid form from iHerb - "California Gold" Folinic Acid. 1 DROP is a recommended daily dose of folinic acid (655 mcg). My daughter having MTHFR gene mutation has trouble with methylation, and so her folate levels are depleted.  The Folinic Acid drops are about 655mcg of folic acid per drop. Leucovorin is a RIDICULOUSLY high amount. Even with more than 3 drops, I noticed my daughter was agitated and overly hyper, so it's best to go slow and only give little by little. That's why Leucovorin is a pharmaceutical administered under a Doctor's care because it's such a high dose. LEUCOVORIN: Conversion Information 1 milligram (mg) equals 1,000 micrograms (mcg). Tablet Strengths: Leucovorin tablets are commonly produced in strengths such as 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, and 25 mg. CALIFORNIA GOLD FOLINIC ACID: 1 drop = 655 mcg or 0.655mg Therefore you'd need almost 8 DROPS just to get an equivalent of 5mg of Leucovorin!! If my daughter was getting agitated with 4 drops, I can't imagine her on higher doses of Leucovorin! Start with 1 drop one day, and then increase it to 2. Monitor reaction. Read the reviews on iherb. Most parents are not giving more than 5 drops depending on weight of the child. YES, the kiddos are deficient, but we still need to not overwhelm their systems. This eliminated within two days ALL HER SYMPTOMS OF POTS! I don't know why, I don't know how, but I'm guessing her POTS symptoms were a result of major deficiencies brought on by nitrous oxide during surgery. If you know your child has deficiencies and the MTHFR gene variant that causes methylation issues, consider this. (I've also consulted with Dr Jeremy Ayres and he has given a protocol, but her symptoms suddenly disappeared after he sent me his protocol on the third day of supplementing with 3 drops of Folinic Acid!) Allostatic Load is of major importance, and reducing that through supplementation via Redox signalling molecules (ASEA), and addressing deficiencies, is also key. JC Kay
