As part of our effort to share useful tools and resources for relocation, we’d like to highlight Manifest. Manifest is an immigration law firm specializing in U.S. employment-based visas, including O-1, L-1, EB-1, and National Interest Waivers (NIW). What makes them different is their process. They don’t hand your case off to a paralegal. Instead, you’re matched with an experienced attorney based on your specific case, receive dedicated 1:1 support, and can track your case every step of the way through an online portal. And, of course, their track record: thousands of visas and green cards successfully obtained for clients. If you’re planning a move to the United States for work, they’re well worth considering. When it comes to relocating abroad for work, most people immediately think of employer-sponsored visas. But there’s another, often overlooked route: talent visas. One of the biggest differences from a traditional work visa is that a talent visa often doesn’t require you to have a job offer. And unlike many digital nomad visas, eligibility is usually based on your professional achievements rather than meeting an ongoing minimum monthly income requirement. We put together a new post on our Substack, The Global Move, covering some of the strongest talent visa options, including: • O-1 Visa (🇺🇸) • Global Talent Visa (🇬🇧) • "Carte Talent" (🇫🇷) • National Innovation Visa (🇦🇺) • and several others. Well worth a read if you want to be aware of the different relocation pathways available. Here’s the link 👇 https://relocateme.substack.com/p/talent-visas-in-2026-a-relocation

“Why do you want to relocate?” It’s one of the most common interview questions international job seekers get, and one where your answer can quietly hurt your chances of moving forward. Many candidates answer it by talking almost exclusively about wanting to move abroad, seeking a better quality of life, higher salaries, and the like. Here’s the problem: when that’s your entire answer, you unintentionally shift the focus away from the one thing the recruiter actually wants to hear about: the company. By the time you’re sitting in that interview, they already know you want to relocate. What they really want to hear is that you’re genuinely excited about joining their team. In my latest article for The Global Move, I explain: - why focusing so much on the idea of relocating during interviews can work against you; - what employers actually want to hear instead; and - how to approach relocation questions the right way, with examples of weak and strong answers. I hope it comes in handy for those of you who are currently looking for a tech job abroad. Check out the article here 👇 https://relocateme.substack.com/p/a-mistake-to-avoid-during-relocation

Just published an updated guide to digital nomad visas available in 2026. Today, more than 50 countries offer some form of digital nomad visa, and new programs keep appearing. Some require relatively modest income, while others have thresholds that put them out of reach for many people. Some are designed for a short stay, while others can lead to long-term residence. We originally published a similar guide in 2025, but a lot has changed since then. Income requirements have been updated, several new programs have launched, and a few older ones have quietly disappeared. The updated guide groups options by region and includes the specific visa name, minimum income requirement, duration, and an official government source for every option, so you can verify the latest requirements at any time. The list is now live on our Substack, The Global Move. Check it out here 👇 https://relocateme.substack.com/p/digital-nomad-visas-in-2026-a-world #DigitalNomadVisa #IndependentRelocation

Do cover letters still matter in 2026? Our answer: Yes, but only if you write them well. Otherwise, it's a waste of time. To give you an example, one of the subscribers to our Substack newsletter, The Global Move, recently wrote a cover letter that opened the door for him at a Berlin-based tech company while applying from abroad. He kindly gave us permission to share that cover letter publicly, so we could break down what made it effective and share practical advice other job seekers can use when writing their own. You can find the cover letter and our thoughts on why it worked in this new article 👇 https://relocateme.substack.com/p/how-to-write-a-cover-letter-in-2026 #CoverLetters #JobSearchAdvice

Just published an interview with Peter, who moved from Nigeria 🇳🇬 to Portugal 🇵🇹 to join Catawiki as a Software Engineer. In our conversation, Peter shares why he chose Portugal, what Catawiki's interview process was like, how the relocation support worked, and what surprised him most after making the move. If you're considering relocating to Lisbon/Portugal for a tech job, it's worth a read: 👉 https://relocate.me/blog/expat-stories/moving-to-portugal-it-job-software-engineer-interview/ Interested in joining Catawiki in Lisbon? Last year, a friend of ours, Jani, a full-stack dev from Slovenia, was preparing for interviews. The technical stuff wasn't the hardest part. The hardest part was this: how do you know if your answers actually sound clear? Not in your head. Out loud. In a real interview, nobody hears the polished version you rehearsed in your mind. They hear what comes out under pressure: the answer that drags on, the explanation that wanders, the moment you know the topic cold but still sound shaky. And when you get rejected, you usually never find out what went wrong. Was it your confidence? Your English? The way you structured it? That's what pushed Jani to build Pavone.ai. It lets you practice interview answers out loud and get feedback on clarity, structure, confidence, and delivery before the real thing. Made for people preparing without a bootcamp, regular mock interviews, or a senior engineer on hand to provide honest feedback. The first practice run is free. Worth a try → https://pavone.ai

Hello everyone 👋 Last Thursday, we briefly announced the launch of our new private job board for paid subscribers to our Substack newsletter, The Global Move: https://globalmove.relocate.me Some of you may have already checked it out (and even joined), while others may still have no idea what it is. So, we'd like to take a moment to introduce it properly and help you decide whether it could be useful for your international tech job search. 📌 Why we built it For over a year, our team has been publishing weekly manually curated lists of relocation-friendly tech jobs on Substack. In this format (Substack posts), those job lists are difficult to browse. Plus, searching through the archive (6,000+ jobs shared to date) has become time-consuming, with opportunities spread across 60+ weekly job lists and many openings that are no longer active. The goal of the job board isn't to replace the newsletter, but to make the experience much more practical for subscribers. 📌 The idea behind the job boardJobs appear on the job board daily on weekdays as we find them (rather than once a week on Thursdays) • A searchable archiveFilters by job type (relocation/international remote), category, country, company size, etc. • The option to save jobs, mark them as applied, and report inactive ones • 100% manually curated You can read more about the job board here: https://relocateme.substack.com/p/introducing-the-global-move-job-board Or, head straight to the job board and join: 👉 https://globalmove.relocate.me At the moment, there are 1,200+ job openings: • 1,000+ tech roles with visa sponsorship and/or relocation support • 240+ remote roles open to international talent

Just moved to Germany or about to? 🇩🇪 Quick one worth knowing about. We've partnered with UniRents, who does something that makes a lot of sense if you're relocating: instead of buying everything for a new apartment, you rent it. Furniture, appliances, the stuff you need to actually live somewhere: the upfront cost of buying it all is brutal, and then you're stuck either hauling it to your next country or tossing it when you leave. How it works: 👉 Pick what you need at unirents.de 👉 Pay only for as long as you need it 👉 Delivered in 2–3 working days 👉 Picked up when you move out It's a popular option for international workers who'd rather not sink money into furniture they'll abandon in a year. If that's you, the code RELOCATEME15 gets you 15% off your order 👇 unirents.de

How will searching for a tech job with relocation look in 2026? From what we’re seeing running The Global Move and Relocate.me, it will be: • more competitive • more global • more dependent on strategy … than in previous years, especially if you compare against, let’s say, 2021. More specifically: 1️⃣ There will be no “easier market” to move to. Mature tech hubs will stay competitive, and emerging ones will quickly attract global talent. 2️⃣ Over-application will break the traditional application model. Sending more applications won’t necessarily increase your chances. Precision will matter much, much more than volume. 3️⃣ Getting to the first interview will require multiple entry points: direct application, recruiter outreach, referrals, visibility (content, open source, community presence), to name a few. Oftentimes even for one role. 4️⃣ Being findable will matter as much as applying. Candidates who share projects, write, contribute, and show clear expertise will have a higher chance of being approached rather than ignored. 5️⃣ Referrals will continue to be one of the most effective ways to get interviews. But the nature of referrals will change. This year, cold messages like “Can you refer me?” will rarely work. We’ve broken all of this down in more detail (plus five other predictions) in our new Substack post. If tech job relocation is on your radar this year, it’s worth a read 👇 https://relocateme.substack.com/p/how-searching-for-tech-jobs-with
