Subject: Urgent Request for a 30-Day Transition Period for PTE Test-Takers Residing in Iran
Dear Pearson PTE Team,
I am writing to respectfully request your urgent consideration regarding the recently announced suspension of PTE exam services for candidates residing in Iran, effective September 8, 2026.
I fully understand that Pearson must comply with applicable laws, regulations, and sanctions requirements. However, this sudden change will have a significant impact on thousands of Iranian test-takers who have been preparing for the PTE examination for months and have made important academic, immigration, and financial plans based on their ability to take the test.
Many candidates have already invested substantial amounts of money and time in preparation courses, study materials, travel arrangements, university applications, and immigration processes. Some candidates have also already scheduled their examinations.
For this reason, I respectfully ask Pearson to consider providing at least a 30-day transition or grace period before the new restriction is fully implemented.
In particular, we kindly request that Pearson consider the following:
Allowing candidates currently residing in Iran an additional 30 days to take their PTE examination, if legally permissible.
Honoring examinations that were already scheduled or planned before the announcement of this policy change.
Exploring whether any additional authorization or specific licensing from the relevant U.S. authorities could allow Pearson to provide a temporary transition period for affected test-takers.
Providing clear and fair rescheduling or refund options for candidates who cannot take their examinations because of this change.
We are not asking Pearson to violate any applicable sanctions or legal requirements.
We are simply asking Pearson to consider the exceptional circumstances faced by thousands of students and professionals and, where legally possible, provide a reasonable transition period so that affected candidates are not left without a viable option with only a few days' notice.
PTE is an important part of the academic and immigration plans of many Iranian students and professionals.
