Repost from Sociology Sleepy Classes by Shekhar Dutt
It’s a really good article with a lot of terms and the idea of importance of Regional Parties
Students often miss this and this is extremely relevant for both our Socio and GS syllabus
Regionalism:
Regional parties represent local identities, languages and cultural aspirations rather than being merely parochial
Subaltern Assertion:
They brought backward castes, regional communities and marginal groups into mainstream politics.
(The article also mentions this word The Congress System
We have it in our lectures but I’d urge everyone to research it
Rajni Kothari ji had coined it)
Back to Article:
Decline of one-party dominance created space for regional and caste-based political assertion.
It led to Federalisation of Politics: National politics became shaped by state-level issues, not only by Delhi-centric narratives
Civilisational Compact: Regional parties remind us that India’s unity is maintained not by cultural uniformity, but by accommodating regional diversity within democracy
In this regard i have also added perspectives of Christophe Jaffrelot in our classes discussing if India is a civilisational state or not
We need to raise our level
Both in Socio and in GS
And we need to keep it crisp
That’s what I’m trying to do here through my classes and these articles 🙏
Let’s keep working hard

Doston..
Tonight is one of those strange UPSC nights
Some of you might be confident
Some might be calculating the cut off for the zillionth time
Some might have already convinced themselves of the worst
Whatever happens tomorrow, I want you to remember one thing: a result can tell you whether you’ve cleared a stage or not, but it can never tell you your worth
It’s way bigger than any good or bad result
And I want to tell you that, whatever happens, I want to be there for you
I’ve seen students miss the list by a few marks and lose it altogether
I’ve seen students miss the list by a few marks and come back stronger than ever
Just know that UPSC has a funny way of humbling us every now and then.. so try not to let anything get to your heart
Tomorrow, if you clear, we’ll plan the road ahead
And if you don’t, we’ll sit together, might even pause for a moment and analyse honestly, how to plan the next move
No matter what the PDF says,
just know that you’re not alone in this journey
Whatever happens, we are in this together 🙏
– Shekhar Sir

Repost from Sociology Sleepy Classes by Shekhar Dutt
From today, I’ll be sharing the following daily from my paid batches
(for a few days, so that those who are not part of the paid batches can get a hint of what do we do in our paid batches) 🙏
1. Daily 3 Questions that I share with students of Daily Live Answer Writing Batch (only the questions, not their answers or feedback)
2. Content Topics I am covering in the Mains Crash Course (just the topics and not the content, so that in case you are preparing on your own or from elsewhere, you could plan well and complete in time)
3. Weekend Test Series Questions (again the questions only from our Mains Test Series and not evaluation)
Apart from this, I’ll keep posting:
1. Daily one current affairs analysis from a Sociological perspective
2. Other important resources that can help you plan and align your preparation better
(Sharing this as full disclosure for both paid batch and not paid batch students 🙏)

I want to say here with utmost confidence and with humility on my mind, at the moment, there is no parallel of Sleepy’s GS team in the entire industry 🙏
We are based in Chandigarh, one of the most peaceful and academically minded cities of our country, and we want to make sure, as long as as we are all together in it, let god be kind and our minds calm, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS CITY THE HUB OF UPSC TOPPERS of this country 🙏🙏

Repost from Sociology Sleepy Classes by Shekhar Dutt
Guys, Aakriti’s session was really good today
She added 100+ marks in her GS Mains score in a year 🙏🙏
Improving in optional is still understandable as the syllabus is limited as well as defined.
But it’s immensely difficult to pull it off in GS.
She did it.
Working closely with Ayush sir, she did it.
And today she shared how.
Now since we have an offline center, trying to get Sociology toppers as well to help Socio aspirants of the region align their preparations better.
The chain of learning shall keep moving forward 🙏

Guys, in a competitive exam, it’s not a winning strategy if everyone is following it
That’s why I think staying low has helped Sleepy produce many toppers
To be known only by a few, who in turn came hearing a strong word of mouth by those who had made it through
We stayed low, we could never make a lot of money, our marketing stayed humble
And therefore we only got serious students recommended by recommended candidates
And we kept creating toppers
It’s been very satisfying to witness selections year after year
And I just want to tell you that to succeed in UPSC you need these two together, Content and Intent
Today, in our GS Batch Induction class, I want to give you both
The next 300 days, we’ll give you the content
But today, I’ll share 11 points that will help you get that intent as well
Do join me today at 2pm
I’ll see you there 🙏

Repost from Environment for UPSC by Dr Manmeet Kaur
Doston,
I'll be starting with the subject of Environment and Ecology for UPSC 2027 with this schedule.
I'll be focusing on subject clarity and strengthening concepts before we move on to current affairs.
The sources I have always followed to curate current affairs are:
• Newspapers
• PIB
• Down to Earth Magazine
• Government websites
• Government and international reports
If you want to join the course, here is the link -
If you want to prepare by yourself, the drill is the same: focus on static content and interlink it with current affairs of at least 18 months prior to the prelims.
