| 7 | 🔹 HLIB Retail Research – 8 July – Bullish Tracker: EG (RM1.71) 🔹
🌟 EG: Healthy profit-taking flag potential reversal pocket 🌟
Technical View
EG has surged 98% from its YTD low of RM0.965 to a record high of RM1.91 before easing to RM1.71 in a healthy consolidation, offering an attractive accumulation opportunity. A decisive breakout above RM1.80 (MA20) would negate the near-term bearish bias and pave the way for a retest of RM1.91, followed by RM2.04 (113% FR) and RM2.17 (127.2% FR).
Conversely, failure to hold current levels could extend the pullback towards RM1.60 (MA50), RM1.55 (61.8% FR) and RM1.44 (50% FR). Maintain a disciplined cut-loss below RM1.50.
Prospect remains positively for EG, supported by strong earnings visibility. The group recently secured a purchase order from an existing US customer to supply 800G optical modules and wireless broadband-related products amounting to USD241.6m, which will contribute positively to its earnings trajectory over the next two years. Furthermore, earnings in the latest quarter improved, underpinned by favourable product mix, stronger operating leverage and higher production yields.
Optical module outlook remains bright. Production has fully transitioned to higher-margin 800G modules, replacing legacy 100G and 200G products. 800G yields jumped to 80% (2QFY26: 50%), providing further scope for margin expansion. Meanwhile, management is optimizing 1.6T module yields during the NPI stage to secure customer qualification, positioning EG to capitalize on the next wave of AI- and semiconductor-driven demand.
Aggressive capacity expansion supports sustained growth. PG2's first floor is fully occupied, while second-floor renovations are on track for completion in Aug 2026 to accommodate a dedicated 800G/1.6T customer. Plot 36, due in early 2027, will quadruple network switch capacity, with two floors already committed by an existing client. Meanwhile, the Thailand plant is scheduled for completion by end-2026 to serve EV, data centre and energy storage customers, while AEC/DAC production is expected to become a meaningful earnings contributor from FY27.
Entry Price: RM1.51-1.63-1.71
Resistance: RM1.91-2.04-2.17
Potential Upside Target: RM2.17
Cut loss: RM1.50

| 8 | M+ Global Market Update – 09Jul26
U.S.-Iran Tensions May Drag The Markets Again
US: Following President Trump's declaration that the US–Iran ceasefire is officially over, coupled with a spike in Brent oil, we expect Wall Street to trade in a risk-off mode today. However, the surge in crude oil prices should bode well for energy stocks, including Chevron Corporation and Cheniere Energy. Meanwhile, despite the broader market sell-down, Broadcom managed to buck the trend and trade higher, supported by its multi-year agreement with Apple worth over USD30bn to design and engineer custom product components. The Fed has also decided to maintain its benchmark interest rate target range between 3.50% and 3.75% at this latest FOMC meeting, while remaining divided on the future rate outlook.
MY: Tracking Wall Street’s sell-down for the second consecutive day, we expect the FBM KLCI to exhibit a lacklustre tone today. Meanwhile, with the rebound in oil prices expected to bode well for energy players, upstream and downstream counters such as DIALOG, HENGYUAN, and ARMADA are poised to benefit. Concurrently, plantation players might also see increasing buying interest following the ongoing El Niño weather conditions, alongside the market treating CPO as a viable structural alternative to rising energy prices. Lastly, digital transformation and IT solutions provider SRKK AI Berhad (M+ TP: RM 0.54) will make its ACE Market debut today.
