UNAMA confirms Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan KABUL - UNAMA has confirmed that at least 10 civilians were killed, most of them children, and nine people injured in airstrikes carried out in Afghanistan’s Kunar and Helmand provinces earlier today. Civilians continue to be affected by cross-border hostilities. Just a week ago, on September 21, UNAMA confirmed the killing of at least three civilians with four others injured in another airstrike in Kunar province. So far in 2026, UNAMA has documented over 1,100 civilian deaths and injuries in Afghanistan from cross-border armed violence. Haftar's forces execute over 30 in Eastern Libya after secret military trials Over 30 men have been executed in eastern Libya since 23 August after being sentenced to death in secretive military trials, and at least 50 more face the same fate. Amnesty International reports the defendants were tortured by LAAF-affiliated armed groups to extract "confessions" that were then used as evidence against them. The killings began two weeks after LAAF intelligence chief Fawzi al-Mansouri was killed in Benghazi. The executions, carried out under Khalifa Haftar's forces, ended Libya's 15-year de facto moratorium on the death penalty. Families of the executed were denied burial rights - bodies were kept by authorities and funerals forbidden.
