| 3 |  🔎 Today, as part of our #MGIMOalumni series, we highlight a graduate of the School of International Law – Ha Hung Cuong, Minister of Justice of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2007–2016).
Ha Hung Cuong graduated from MGIMO in 1976 and has always kept warm memories of his alma mater, repeatedly mentioning in interviews the special attention and care given to international students during their studies.
🇻🇳 His professional journey began with teaching: after returning to his home country following his studies at MGIMO, he taught law students at Hanoi Law Institute, and later continued his academic work as a postgraduate researcher at the Institute of State and Law of the USSR Academy of Sciences, deepening his expertise in state and legal theory.
📎 Since 1986, his career was closely tied to the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam, where he rose from Director of a Department to First Deputy Minister. In 2007, Ha Hung Cuong was appointed Minister of Justice of the country.
Speaking about his education, Ha Hung Cuong emphasises:
I am grateful to the University for the knowledge I received. MGIMO has helped train many generations of Vietnamese diplomats, economists and lawyers. Today, MGIMO graduates from Vietnam are successfully working on many fronts – not only in the country, but also abroad, in our embassies, diplomatic missions and various state enterprises. I am pleased that the University maintains its prestige. It remains the same and yet becomes better and better every day. I am very proud to have graduated from MGIMO.
🎓 In 2014, already serving as Minister, Ha Hung Cuong paid a working visit to his alma mater. As a sign of deep gratitude for MGIMO's contribution to training Vietnam's professionals, he presented the University and its rector, Anatoly Torkunov, with a state award of Vietnam – the Order of Friendship.
The career of Ha Hung Cuong is a shining example of how a fundamental MGIMO education not only enables one to defend national interests but also helps strengthen international law and humanitarian ties between states.

| 5 |  🌐 Today in the spotlight of our #MGIMOschools series – the Master’s program “Complex Studies of Integration Processes” at the Eurasian Studies Institute (ESI). This is a unique interdisciplinary Master’s program for those who want to become architects of Eurasian policy and experts on cooperation within the EAEU and beyond.
The programme is offered in two tracks: “Economics” and “International Relations.” Its key feature is the evening modular format (classes start at 5:30 PM), which makes it ideal for those planning to combine their Master’s degree with a professional career.
🎓 The programme aims at professional training and retraining of civil servants, business community representatives, and anyone interested in the politics of the EAEU, as well as the theory and practice of integration processes in the modern world.
Key advantages of the “Complex Studies of Integration Processes” program:

Before applying to MGIMO, many prospective students have similar questions. Is it possible to get admitted without connections? How easy is it to adapt to studying in a new country? In this post, we're debunking some of the most common stereotypes about MGIMO and showing what it's really like.
❌Myth 1. Only children of diplomats and the elite can get into MGIMO.
✅ Reality: Admission is really competitive because MGIMO is one of Russia's leading universities. Every year, however, talented students from across Russia and dozens of countries around the world are admitted. What truly matters are academic achievement, dedication, and motivation — not personal connections.
❌Myth 2. It is difficult for international students to adapt to life at MGIMO.
✅ Reality: Quite the opposite. The university provides everything international students need to settle in comfortably. They take part in excursions and trips across Russia, discover the country's culture, participate in university events alongside Russian students, and organize projects that showcase the cultures of their home countries.

| 7 |  🇷🇼 As a part of our #successstory series, we spoke with Irakoze Liesse Ines Ntare — a student from Rwanda, studying at the School of International Economic Relations. She shares why she chose Russia, what she likes most about the MGIMO University, and how she builds connections beyond the classroom.
🎓 One of the main factors that influenced her choice of MGIMO was the university’s global reputation and its strong focus on languages and diplomacy:
I chose Russia because it offers high‑quality education, especially in international relations, diplomacy, and global affairs. MGIMO has an excellent international reputation and is known for preparing future diplomats and global leaders. I also wanted to learn Russian because it is an important international language that opens opportunities for academic, professional, and cultural exchange. Studying at MGIMO allows me to gain both academic knowledge and international experience.
💭 What turned out to be the most unexpected or interesting part of the learning process?
The most interesting part has been learning Russian through everyday communication with classmates and local people. At first, I thought the language would be extremely difficult, but with regular practice, it became much easier to understand and speak. I also enjoyed studying alongside students from many different countries, which gave me a broader perspective on world cultures and international cooperation.
🔹 Beyond academics, Ines is already making the most of student life and cultural exchange:
Outside my studies, I participate in cultural events organized by the university and enjoy joining activities that bring together international students. I have also taken part in student discussions and networking events, where I have been able to share Rwandan culture while learning about the traditions of other countries. These experiences have helped me build friendships and improve my communication skills.
🔗 What advice would you give to students from Rwanda and other countries who are planning to apply to MGIMO or start learning Russian?
I would encourage students to be confident and take advantage of the opportunity to study at MGIMO. My advice is to start learning basic Russian before arriving, stay consistent with your studies, and never be afraid to make mistakes when speaking the language. Studying at MGIMO is not only about earning a degree – it is also about personal growth, building an international network, and preparing for a successful global career.

On July 13, the MGIMO International team met with students from our partner school in China, Beibo Dehan Foreign Languages School in Sanshui. The event took place at the Gorchakov Lyceum as part of the Russian International School project.
📚 Together with Maria Matveeva, a third-year student at MGIMO's School of International Economic Relations, we delivered a series of lectures and interactive sessions — all in Chinese.
🔎 We discussed the history and current development of Russia–China relations, introduced students to MGIMO's academic opportunities, and talked about the educational and career prospects the University offers its students and graduates.
🖋️ One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the MGIMO International School Olympiad for Foreign Citizens. This year, for the first time, school students from China will get the opportunity to participate in the contest. The attendees learned about the Olympiad's format, discovered the opportunities it offers to prospective applicants, and even tested their knowledge by taking part in an interactive quiz based on Olympiad tasks.
⭐To commemorate the event, all participants received gifts from the MGIMO International merchandise collection.
The most rewarding outcome of the meeting was the students' genuine enthusiasm for the Russian language, studying in Russia, and learning more about MGIMO. We hope to welcome many of them soon — first as Olympiad participants, and later as MGIMO students! 🤝

| 10 |  +9🌐🇰🇬 MGIMO Students Took Part in the 1st International Student School of Culture and Arts in Kyrgyzstan
A delegation of activists from the MGIMO Cultural Center took part in the 1st International Student School of Culture and Arts, held on the shores of the famous Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan. The event was organized by the B.N.Yeltsin Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
✨ The MGIMO delegation included members of the university's choreographic studio and vocal and dance ensemble, who have performed on numerous major university and Russian stages.
The students served as ambassadors of cultural diplomacy: they showcased MGIMO's creative life, shared their experience, and learned about Kyrgyz culture.
⭐️ The School's program was rich and varied:
✔️ Ekaterina Azarenkova, an analyst at the MGIMO Department of Youth Work, gave a presentation on the university. Participants learned about MGIMO's history, its key academic programs, and, of course, the Cultural Center, which was established nearly 30 years ago on the initiative of MGIMO rector Anatoly Torkunov.
✔️ One of the most memorable events was a master class on Russian folk dance, led by Daria Krivileva (3rd-year student, School of International Journalism), a soloist of the Cultural Center's choreographic studio.
✔️ The students also took part in unique creative workshops led by true professionals: Galina Ketova, Honored Artist of Kyrgyzstan and actress at the Ch. Aitmatov Russian Drama Theatre, who also serves as Head of the Department of Extracurricular Activities at KRSU, and Tatiana Kolcheva, a member of the Union of Theatre Workers.
✔️ Participants also attended a fascinating lecture by Nikolai Kodinov, a member of the Russian Society “Znanie”.
📌 During the official part of the program, Kalymbek Dzhumadilov, a leading specialist at the Youth Department of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, addressed the students.
The discussion focused on the development of youth initiatives in the Republic and, importantly, the prospects for joint Russian-Kyrgyz projects.
🔊 The MGIMO students actively joined the conversation, raising questions about opportunities for expanding cooperation, new exchange formats, and joint creative events.

📍 Gorky Park
Gorky Park is one of Moscow's most popular parks. Here you can take a stroll along the Moskva River embankment, have a picnic, ride a bike, or simply spend an evening with your classmates. At the same time, it's not just a green area in the city center — it's a true cultural phenomenon.
In summer, Gorky Park turns into a huge festival venue. It hosts concerts, open-air film screenings, morning workouts, and even dance workshops. And the best part — most of these events are completely free for visitors. It's the perfect place to take a break from studying and recharge with good vibes.
📍 Zaryadye Park
Zaryadye is amazing because it's literally just a stone's throw from the Kremlin and Red Square. Yet once you're inside the park, you don't feel like you're in the heart of a metropolis — you feel like you're in a cozy corner of the wild nature. There are plants from all over Russia in the park: from northern forests to southern regions — a living encyclopedia of our country's geography.
The park's hallmark is the "Floating Bridge," which juts out over the Moskva River. From there, you get an incredible view of the Kremlin, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and the famous Stalinist skyscrapers.
📍 VDNKh (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy)
Do you know what MGIMO and VDNKh have in common? Both are bridges between different countries and peoples of the world. But while at university you study international relations behind a desk, at VDNKh you can explore them on a real scale — through architecture and history.

Buses 616, 715, and 793 go directly to the university. Get off after three stops. There is a convenient underground pedestrian crossing right in front of the university. 🇷🇺 Today we're telling the story of Vasily Nebenzya, an alumnus of the School of International Economic Relations, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN and the UN Security Council.
Vasily Nebenzya graduated from MGIMO in 1983 and immediately started his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. Behind him are decades of work in Moscow and abroad – from Senior Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN in New York to Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights at the Russian MFA. In 2013, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, overseeing economic cooperation and engagement with integration blocs.
📎 His tenure in this role fell during a challenging period: the Ukrainian crisis, a cooling of relations with the West, and economic sanctions. Under these circumstances, Vasily Nebenzya proved himself a tough yet constructive negotiator. Speaking about the work of a diplomat in today's world, he emphasizes:

🎓 One of the main factors that influenced her choice of MGIMO was the university's strong language training and its reputation in the humanities:
I have always believed that MGIMO is the best choice for those studying humanities. What attracted me was the fact that foreign languages are given top priority here. In today's world, that is a visionary approach, and I have not regretted my decision.
❔ What surprised you most about the university?
Probably the most unexpected thing was the community. People from different countries study here, with experience living in various cultures.
