O Allah, Ever-Living, Sustainer of all, Possessor of Majesty and Honour—on this blessed day, the Day of ʿArafah—we ask You by Your Most Beautiful Names and Lofty Attributes to preserve Your servant Sulaymān ibn Salīmullāh ar-Ruḥaylī with Your invincible protection, to watch over him with the eye of Your care, to guide him in his speech and actions, and to make his knowledge a light that leads to Your straight path. O Allah, bless his life, his knowledge, and his deeds, and make him a source of benefit for the people and the lands. Raise his rank in this world and the next, join him with the ranks of the sincere, righteous scholars, and grant him a praiseworthy legacy among the people and unending reward in the scales of his good deeds. O Allah, keep him firm upon the Sunnah, grant him success in all that You love and are pleased with, relieve him of every worry, and open for him a way out from every hardship. Grant him a beautiful ending, and the highest part of Paradise—al-Firdaws al-Aʿlā—among those whom You have favoured from among the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. قال الشيخ سليمان الرحيلي حفظه الله: Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: أفادني أحدُ الإخوةِ بهذه الفائدة: • One of the brothers informed me of this benefit: أن الطبراني روى في (الدعاء) بإسنادٍ صحيح أن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما، كان عشية عرفة يرفع صوته: • That al-Ṭabarānī narrated in al-Duʿā’ with a sound chain of narration that Ibn ʿUmar – may Allah be pleased with them both – on the eve of ʿArafah, used to raise his voice saying: «لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد، وهو على كل شيء قدير، اللهم اهدِنا بالهدى، وزيِّنَّا بالتقوى، واغفر لنا في الآخرة والأولى» • There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is over all things capable. O Allah, guide us with guidance, adorn us with piety, and forgive us in the Hereafter and in the first life. ثم يخفض صوته ثم يقول: • Then he would lower his voice and say: «اللهم إني أسألك من فضلك وعطائك رزقاً طيباً مباركاً، اللهم إنك أمرتَ بالدعاء، وقضيتَ على نفسك بالاستجابة، وأنت لا تُخلِف وعدك، ولا تُكذِّب عهدك، اللهم ما أحببتَ من خيرٍ فحبِّبْهُ إلينا ويسِّرهُ لنا، وما كرهتَ من شيءٍ فكرِّهْهُ إلينا وجنِّبْناه، ولا تنزعْ عنَّا الإسلامَ بعد إذ أعطيتَنا» • O Allah, I ask You from Your bounty and Your giving, a good and blessed provision. O Allah, indeed You commanded [us] to supplicate, and You decreed upon Yourself to respond, and You do not break Your promise nor belie Your covenant. قال الشيخ سليمان الرحيلي حفظه الله: Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: في الحديث: (خيرُ الدعاءِ دعاءُ يومِ عرفة) • In the ḥadīth: “The best supplication is the supplication on the Day of ʿArafah.” والتحقيق أن هذه الخيرية تعم جميع المؤمنين من الحجاج وغيرهم، • And upon closer examination, this excellence encompasses all the believers—both the pilgrims and others. والحجاج أعظم نصيبًا منها، • And the pilgrims have the greatest share of it. فإن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم علق الخيرية بيوم عرفة، • For the Prophet ﷺ attached the excellence to the Day of ʿArafah, وهو حاصل لجميع المؤمنين، • And that is something available to all the believers. فليجتهد الحجاج وغيرهم في الدعاء لأنفسهم، • So let the pilgrims and others strive in supplicating for themselves, ولأهليهم، • And for their families, ولأقاربهم، • And for their relatives, ولأحبابهم، • And for their loved ones, ولعلمائهم، • And for their scholars, وحُكّامهم. • And for their rulers. https://t.me/PearlsofRuhayli
