❇️وروي أَنّ داوُدَ بنَ عليِّ بنِ عبدِاللهِ بن عبّاسٍ قَتلَ المُعلّى بن خُنَيْسٍ ـ مولى جعفرِ بنِ محمّدٍ ـ وأَخَذَ مالَه ، فدخلَ عليه جعفرٌ وهو يَجُرُّ رداءه فقالَ له : قتلتَ مولاي وأَخذتَ مالي ، أَما علمتَ أَنّ الرّجلَ يَنامُ على الثُّكلِ ولا يَنامُ على الحَرب ، أَما واللهِ لأدْعُوَنَّ الله عليكَ » فقالَ له داوُدُ : أَتَتَهدّدُنا بدعائكَ؟ كالمستهَزئ بقولهِ. فرجعَ أَبو عبدِاللهِ إلى دارِه ، فلم يَزلْ ليلَه كلَّه قائماً وقاعداً ، حتّى إِذا كانَ السّحرُ سُمعَ وهو يقولُ في مُناجاتِه : «ياِذا القوة القوية ، وياِذا المحال الشّديدِ ، وياذا العزّةِ الّتي كلُّ خلقِكَ لها ذليلٌ ، اكْفِني هذا الطّاغيةَ وانتقِمْ لي منه » فما كانَ إِلا ساعة حتّى ارتفعتِ الأصواتُ بالصِّياحِ وقيلَ : قد ماتَ داوُدُ ابنُ عليٍّ السّاعةَ. ✅It is narrated that Dawud ibn ʿAlī ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās killed al-Muʿallā ibn Khunays — the servant of Jaʿfar ibn Muhammad (Imam al-Ṣādiq, peace be upon him) — and took his wealth. Jaʿfar entered upon him, dragging his cloak, and said: “You killed my companion and seized my property. Do you not know that a man can endure bereavement, but he cannot endure enmity and war? By God, I shall supplicate against you!” Dawud said mockingly: “Do you threaten us with your supplication?” So Abū ʿAbdullāh (Imam al-Ṣādiq) returned to his house and spent the entire night standing and sitting in prayer and supplication. Near dawn, he was heard saying in his supplication: “O Possessor of mighty power, O Possessor of severe punishment, O Possessor of glory before which all Your creation is humbled, suffice me against this tyrant and take vengeance for me upon him.” Not long had passed when voices of shouting were raised, and it was said: “Dawud ibn ʿAlī has just died.” 📚Book of Irshad (for Sheikh mufid) vol.2 p.185 @shia114s
