↟ Norway, 1907 🇧🇻 To cover larger distances during the winter half year and especially while hunting, cross-country skiing was common. There is proven that the Native Scandinavian people went cross-country skiing for over 5,000 years ago. Skiing as a sport emerged during the 18th century, mainly in the Nordic countries, and has become one of Norway's most popular sports. Skiing has also been mentioned in Old Norse Mythology and since the Viking Age, and is even depicted on some rock carvings and rune stones. The oldest preserved image of a skier (possibly Ullr) is found at the Böksta runestone in Balingsta, Uppland in Sweden. Tromso,Norway🇳🇴 Tromsø is situated almost 400km (190 mi) north of the Arctic Circle, but its climate is pleasantly moderated by the Gulf Stream. The long winter darkness, with loads of snow and skies lit up by the northern lights, is perfect for winter activities like dogsledding and skiing. National Geographic

Nålebinding is an ancient form of fiber craft, predating both crocheting and knitting. Nålbinding, as it relates to Northern Europe, was used during the Viking age in Scandinavia before knitting and crochet were known. This was an effective method for them to create sturdy, serviceable garments. The technique faded as the faster art of knitting gained in popularity, but continued in remoter areas of northern Europe well into the twentieth century.

Karhunpeijaiset & The Finnish Bear Cult In Finland the Bear Cult is one of the oldest and most prolific parts of the Finnish ethnic faith. The Bear is seen as a divine ancestor and even has a Bear god who was once a man, Otso. The Bear was also seen as a divine being created by Mielikki from gathered stars, when a bear is angry and violent the song of their creation by the goddess is sung to remind the bear it is a kind creature. The hunting of a bear is also an important tradition with many customs attached, after a successful hunt a traditional feast or Karhunpeijaiset is held. The bears skull is hung atop a pine tree in a sacred grove facing Ursa Major and fish were hung on the branches as a gift. The Bear would return to its afterlife in the stars a land of rivers and forests and then return to mankind. The importance of bears is such, that an Alternative Kalevala (The Finnish Epic Mythology) is being planned right now, with a focus on Bear Cults.-TLK Hyperborean Radio (Uncensored)
