The way a training session should go is warmup/ drills or pad work/ technical rolling or sparring Sparring and rolling should be goal oriented and the goal shouldn’t be just to “win” but ideally to apply the techniques you learned and drilled recently during a live session. New techniques are made usable by being drilled and practiced with increasing resistance until they can be applied in a live session. The rate of improvement of an individual can be fast or slow depending on how methodical he is with his time. Just hitting a heavy bag as hard as you can or smashing pads without any thought to what is being trained or if the combinations are useful in a real session is often a waste of time or cardio at best. Change levels, think about how an opponent would respond to set up effective pad drills and heavy bag time.
