/// Now, something serious :(
This is something I’ve tried my best to avoid throughout the entire journey of
@ProjectInfinityX (which, by the way, is now the most subscribed ROM channel on Telegram and also has the highest number of active downloads - thank you 😘).
First of all, it genuinely saddens me to post a message like this. I’ve been holding myself back from saying anything like this for months, but it has now reached a point where I'm unable to stay silent anymore.
• The concern is about, i want to keep a certain feature unique to us, something which is special and available only for us, to maintain a distinguishing factor.
To achieve this, I’ve consistently worked on bringing something unique in every major update - like in this one the OEM QS Panel styles with seekbar and proper cutouts and earlier Lockscreen custom clock styles / Rewritten Depth wallpaper old implementation for Android 16 QPR etc.
... But it's just that we can't keep it to be
- We were the first to add lockscreen clock styles adapting compose on Android 16 QPR.
: Result: Back-Engineered from our source by Lun*risOS for their project even after a friendly request by me to not to.
- I rewrote the entire depth wallpaper implementation for Android 16.
: Result: Back-Engineered from our source by Lun*risOS for their project even after a friendly request by me to not to.
- Same scenario with the Lockscreen widgets toggle visibility fixes / barrier fixes and OmniJaws java implementation alignment fixes (which it took me several days to figure out and fix) along with the updated Android 16 QPR logic of clock hiding and lockscreen notifications fixing when custom clock styles in use which took me several days to figure out the core cause : Result: Lun*risOS copy pasted the whole files from our source
Even the Launcher OxygenOS clock widget - something that was meant to remain our exclusive since Android 14 - was taken, along with the stacked extended Quickspace view.
I want to make one thing very clear: I have never had, and still don’t have, a problem with developers exploring or taking references from our source. I’ve never called anyone out in the past too for copying code/files from our source, even without credits or authorships, which we had numerous instances, because I understand that all of us build upon community contributions. Even our project heavily depend on the community contributions too and cannot survive whole by own. It's just that it shouldn't be made a primary aim of one's life to must bloat a feature what they see every second, the mentioned project above was even called out by lead members of AxionOS, AviumUI before for similar reason i mentioned :(
We’ve always respected the core identity and exclusive features of other projects. For example (The project i took name of, which i apologize for), I’ve never attempted to replicate their unique/core implementations like lockscreen glyphs, video wallpapers, wallpaper effects, lockscreen now playing, custom UDFPS icons, custom status bar logo, and numerous others like project exclusive vol panel style or labelled designs. And even whatever and whenever we took from them aside this, I always listed a credit for him in this channel changelog posts (which gets 20k+ views each post already) The project founder is indeed a very hardworking person and is also a very beneficial contributor to the custom ROM community and is (or atleast had been) a great friend and acquaintance of mine, This message wasn't meant to target any individual by any means. I don't hold any grudges for him or his respected project.
