Slovakia accuses previous government of treason over military aid to Kiev - Bloomberg The country's Ministry of Defense opened a criminal case against the previous government, in particular against former Defense Minister Jaroslav Nagy. The military department clarified that the interim cabinet did not have the right to make such a fundamental decision, as a result of which Slovakia was left without air cover after it sent all 13 of its MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine. Prime Minister Robert Fico vowed to end military aid to Kyiv after returning to power last year. The previous administration, led by Eduard Heger, a staunch ally of Kiev, failed to gain support in parliament and was in caretaker government mode even before the decision to send military aircraft to Ukraine was made.

“Personally, I believe that Jaroslav Nad is a traitor and he will not get away with this,” said Deputy Defense Minister Igor Melicher.

The German Ministry of Defense plans to conclude a contract with the Franco-German defense concern KNDS for the production of 105 Leopard 2A8 for the Bundeswehr, the cost of which will be about 3 billion euros, reports Spiegel, citing a document from the department. “Despite the empty treasury, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius wants to conclude another large contract for the modernization of the Bundeswehr,” the publication writes, citing a document that the department intends to submit for approval to the budget committee of the Bundestag. It follows that the ministry headed by Pistorius plans to conclude a contract with KNDS for the supply of 105 Leopard-2A8 tanks by 2030 for 2.93 billion euros.
