Natural History Museum in DPRK Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- It has been ten years since the completion of the Natural History Museum, a complex for disseminating the knowledge of natural science and a special base for cultural and leisure activities, at the foot of Mt Taesong in Pyongyang Municipality. Over 2.8 million working people, youth and students visited the museum to acquire a diverse and rich knowledge of nature and its evolution and development, spending a pleasant time. As compared with the period of its completion, hundreds of scientific data were added to the museum, over 900 specimens of animals and plants of more than 200 species were newly displayed and various educational environments were additionally created. Many visitors said that they seemed to become doctors as they get knowledge from lecturers under the excellent educational environment.

Youth and Students Meet with War Veteran Youth and students in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, met with a war veteran on July ２１ and ２２. At the meetings, the war veteran said that July ２７, our victory day, is a precious fruit of the Juche-based military idea and outstanding military strategy of President Kim Il Sung and the heroic spirit of defending the country displayed by the People’s Army soldiers and people and that it is shining long in history as a miracle to be specially recorded in the world history of wars. Merited Weapons Which Left Distinguished Traces in History of War Victory Torpedo Boat No. ２１ Which Performed Miracle in World History of Naval Battles On display at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum is Torpedo Boat No. ２１ which rendered distinguished services at the Jumunjin Naval Battle during the past Fatherland Liberation War. Engraved on the body of the boat is a medal of Hero of the Republic which conveys its feats of displaying the dignity and honor of the heroic navy by piquantly sinking "Baltimore", a heavy cruiser of the US imperialists. During the Fatherland Liberation War, the seamen of the ２nd Torpedo Boat Group fought bravely with the courage and pluck President Kim Il Sung implanted in their minds to sink the enemy’s heavy cruiser "Baltimore" and destroy a light cruiser, which was a great victory never known in the world history of naval battle. This set the whole world on fire.

Remodeling Projects in Kangwon Province Kangwon Province of the DPRK has rebuilt the Wonsan Educational Apparatus Factory and the Flower Garden at the Songdowon Pleasure Park Management Office. The successful completion of the reconstruction projects will help strengthen the material foundations of education in the province, improve the educational conditions and environment and provide the regional people with a more civilized and cultural life. Military Miracles in Fatherland Liberation War Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- During the Fatherland Liberation War, President Kim Il Sung advanced the original tunnel tactics, which can be called a model of unique defence warfare, so that the Korean People's Army repelled the U.S. imperialist aggressors superior in terms of their number and technology. It was a military miracle in history of wars. The U.S. imperialists suffered an irretrievable military and political defeat one year after their provocation of the Korean war. Nevertheless, they did not abandon their ambition to occupy the DPRK and made desperate efforts to expand the war. At that time the war dragged on and the warring parties were standing in confrontation with one another. To cope with the new military and political situation, the President put forward the original tunnel tactics to dig tunnels and take an initiative in fighting by using them as main defense positions. The tactics were Juche-oriented one of our own style that made it possible to keep our armed forces to the maximum and hold the initiative in the war, driving back the enemy's attacks. The advantages and vitality of the tactics were fully demonstrated in the whole period of the 4th stage of the Fatherland Liberation War (June 11, 1951-July 27, 1953). In September 1951, the President personally came to the Height 1211 in the eastern part of the front and indicated the orientation and ways to smash the U.S. imperialists' "autumn offensive" and took measures to tunnel the defensive positions. As a result, the tunnel-type positions were built on the main front, and, in particular, tunnels of various shapes and sizes were dug under the tactically important heights. And they were combined with field positions to form a solid system of positions. In 1952 alone, the U.S. imperialists dropped 4 160 bombs, fired 527 260 shells and machine-gunned more than 1 810 bullets per one square kilometer on Height 1211 and the surrounding area. The defenders of Height 1211 turned the enemy's indiscriminate bombing, shelling and "attack in waves" into a useless ones by relying on the solid tunnel-type defense positions. More than 29 000 enemy soldiers were killed or taken captive, at least 40 enemy planes shot down and over 60 enemy tanks and many other weapons and combat and technical equipment captured and destroyed. Ridgway, the then war chief of the U.S. imperialists, screamed that the tunnel-type defence line of the People's Army would be the most powerful one known to the world. -0-
