03 Cat lemur
Primate species
Interesting fact: The tail is perfect for allowing the feline lemur to keep its balance while sitting on a thin bitch. It also plays an important role in balancing jumps. In social behavior, the striped tail of lemurs is of great importance. If a cat lemur walks on the ground, it keeps its tail upright for better visibility. Male lemurs use their tails to conduct so-called "stink fights". They smear their tail with armpit secretions and stick it out toward their opponent. This is how disputes over ranks in the social hierarchy are resolved and the habitat is defended against alien groups. Because of its tail, the animal received the English name "Ring-tailed lemur".
