the situation in the gulf has become a bit more certain, invest 97L may become Edouard if sustained winds reach 40mph but either way it’s looking like a landfall tomorrow evening/night near the Texas/Louisiana border. it’s a smaller system and it’s not expected to rapidly intensify, models have it in the 35-50mph range. heavy rain, storm surge and coastal flooding are possible even without an official tropical storm designation what’s left of Dolly is unorganized and its chances of spinning up again are diminishing, could be quite a rainmaker for Florida by the end of the work week. we’ll know more when it’s back over open water 🌀

as of this morning Dolly2.0 sits at ~20% chance of development and gulf invest at 30% still nothing crazy but worth monitoring since they’re both in our backyards

Dolly is dunzo for now and there’s congruence for it’s path through the weekend, what happens to it early next week in the Bahamas is not as clear, some reputable models see regeneration & others see it dissipate there’s a new area of interest in the northern Gulf of Mexico, south of Pensacola/Mobile that appears to have more favorable conditions to spin up over the next couple/few days. whatever happens the Caddyshack will be monitoring the situation 🌀

so Dolly had a window to spin up in between two pockets of dry air and it did, but this system is a nothing burger for now hate to sound like a broken record but more dry air & wind shear are likely to tear this thing apart, as of this am it’s probably going to lose it’s tropical storm title in the next day or so as it dumps some rain on the islands. as always prices subject to change don’t get caught up in the scare mongering, weather nerds are desperate for #happenings, if anything changes we’ll let you know 🫡
