Городской фольклор подтолкнул писателя В.Вересаева написать небольшой рассказ “Проклятый дом”, героем которого выступил именно этот особняк. В нем рассказывается об архитекторе дома, который повесился в одном из его помещений из-за нечистого на руку владельца особняка.

On May 12, 2014, the artillery duels with the Ukrainians on Mount Karachun continued. The Militia used almost all of their remaining artillery shells in these exchanges. Additionally, there was another explosion on Mount Karachun. Rumors spread that hundreds of Ukrainians had been killed. It was later confirmed that there were many dead and wounded from the Militia strikes on Mount Karachun, although the exact figures were impossible to determine. The notorious OBS Agency contributed to the dissemination of inaccurate information about the Civil War period. Just as today, casualty numbers and other facts are often misreported, with Ukrainians and their western counterparts spreading information through various channels such as news outlets, YouTube war channels, Telegram, and Twitter. Back then, the situation was similar, albeit somewhat clearer. Obtaining reliable information is challenging when everyone, including those with little to no connection to the battlefield, feels compelled to comment. This breeds unverified information and absurd rumors, a common issue in any political arena, but in this war, it was intensified. The week following the referendum marked the Slavyansk offensive. Russian and Ukrainian media of the time reported that "The Militia launched an offensive near Slavyansk." The excitement stemmed from the Militia's successes and the increasingly anti-Ukrainian rhetoric of the Slavyansk authorities. On May 13, 2014, fighters from Kramatorsk attacked a Ukrainian column 20 km west of the city, in the village of Oktyabrskoye. The column, part of the 95th Airmobile Brigade, was transporting an ammunition resupply to the Ukrainian artillery batteries on Mount Karachun. The attack was a clear attempt to cut the enemy supply lines to Mount Karachun and prevent the artillery from continuing its indiscriminate fire into the city.
