I upset some of you by wishing the men a happy Men's Day when I never did that for Women's Day. My excuse was that it wasn't as hyped or acknowledged as Women's Day, but today I would like to make up for it and wish you all lovely women a very happy Women's Day. Y'all are very pleasant, magical creatures, and it is an honour to be a member of your species. I love you. 💞

Life could be a joke we take seriously. የት እንደሚደርስ የማላውቀው የየእለት ድርጊቴ፣ መዝለቃቸውንም መሆናቸውንም የማላውቃቸው ፍላጎቶቼ... መዋለሌ ሳይኾን ይህን የሚያስብለኝ ግጥምጥሞሹ ነው። በተለያየ የሕይወቴ ክበብ ውስጥ ያሉ ሰዎች እንደሚተዋቁ ሳውቅ፣የኾነ ጊዜ እናቴን ያስተማረቻት ሴት ስታስተምረኝ እና አብራት የተማረችው ልታስተምረኝ ሲኾን፣ ታሪኮች ሲመሳሰሉብኝ... ሁሉም ነገር የተያያዘ ሲኾን ብዥ ይልብኛል። ነገሮች ሲገጣጠሙ my hope for a purposeful life gets shaken. Which doesn't make any sense because when things like these happen, I should be feeling like we're all connected with the "invisible string", that nothing is a coincidence, and we're all part of one big story. A carefully crafted, intentional story. Right? And maybe I do ግን በእነዚህ ጊዜያት ነው ተስፋ የምቆርጠው፣ የሚደክመኝ እና ውሸት/ቀልድ ውስጥ ያለሁ የሚመስለኝ። ለምንድን ነው?

ባለፈው እናቴ፦ "አንቺ ስትመጪ፣ በማታ ሳሎን ለመሆን አልፈራም፤ ሌላ ጊዜ ግን፣ ሲመሽ መኝታ ቤቴን ቆልፌ ነው የምቀመጠው። አይገርምሽም!!? እግዚአብሔርን እኮ እናምነዋለን የምንለው እስከዚህ ድረስ ነው፤ አኹን አንቺ ከምን ታስጥይኛለሽ ብዬ ነው?" አለችኝ። To which I replied "ልክ ነሽ እኮ፤ እኔን ታዪኛለሽ፣ አጠገብሽ አለኹ" "ሳያዩ የሚያምኑ-" "አይ I think ይሄንን እንኳ he would understand" Right? He wouldn't dare compete with a ስጋ ለባሽ... He has to understand እኔ  በአካል በመገኘቴ! I give her my comforting presence. I am more real than He because she can touch me, she can see me... right? ጥያቄ እጠይቀዋለኹ፤ ይመልስልኛል I'm then happy for a while, until I'm not. Perhaps it isn't a conversation or an action I'm seeking from him. Maybe, I just want your silence, a proof of your death, a rightful misery, a life without God... መለስክልኝ፤ መልሱን ምን ላድርገው? በተዘጋ በር ትገባለህ፤ በተጨፈነ ዐይንና በተደፈነ ጆሮስ? To everyone who has ever worried about any "extreme" beliefs I've shared with them; don't worry, I am you once every week.

"እንትን"ን እንደ "እንትን" I really love the song “ኢየሱስ የሳሮን ጽጌረዳ.” Which, if you ask me, is a little weird, because I don’t know what የሳሮን ጽጌረዳ looks like or whether it’s different from an ordinary ጽጌረዳ. The comparison, if you look at it literally, should be stupid, right? ፈጣሪን በፍጥረቱ መግለፅ… yet we sing it joyfully because it’s trying to express His beauty. Why do expressions make us feel so much? Is it because they’re helpless? Something looks, sounds, or feels so hard to explain that we have to borrow the likeness and nature of something else? Are expressions actually failures to express? Is their beauty in their attempt and struggle to be? Are they just like us? Is that why they make us feel so much? They’re art, right? Carriers of the human spirit... Words that fail to say. Human words. Not rigid, robotic ones that don’t try.

“እርሱም፦ ጸጋዬ ይበቃሃል፥ ኃይሌ በድካም ይፈጸማልና አለኝ። እንግዲህ የክርስቶስ ኃይል ያድርብኝ ዘንድ በብዙ ደስታ በድካሜ ልመካ እወዳለሁ።”   — 2ኛ ቆሮ 12፥9

If speaking the truth lifts your spirit so much, how much greater would living it be?

When this adored-by-many man stepped on stage, my uncle got up and left. Maybe he just had a call to make, but it seemed like a statement. His every movement was a message. He's like an SMS; a short man always sending short messages. He's not big enough to make the whole crowd follow him out. But he sure wasn't going to give his time and attention to a man he had no respect for.

I was bored. Beyond angry, beyond sad or disappointed, I was bored. The kind of boredom where, if an angel and a demon appeared in front of me in their true nature, I would take a glance and keep being bored. ምን ይጠበስ?

It makes me feel; art. Isn’t that all there is for humanity? Or is it? This feels like a retirement before the beginning but I used to only look for talent; just take me somewhere, do it beautifully, and I was all for it. Now, I don’t want to be taken just about anywhere. I care about the spirit I let take over me. Anything with so much power certainly has the capacity to destroy. Don’t you think?

I don't know why, but I thought finding meaning in the simple things was one of the very few Gen-Z discovered wisdoms... probably because of all those "Go out in the sun and get a coffee" videos.

But before I sleep, since I have reflected on it already, I would like to finish what I started and say, for the people celebrating the wrong thing on New Year: remember how we've seen military juntas and bandits dancing around dead bodies and thought, "Wow, how hateful and savage"? That's what's going on here. There's a reason people mourn with those who mourn. When people say, "Hey, now is not the time," it's not because they're weak or because they didn't believe in 'that thing' as much as you did; it's because they're trying to teach you basic human decency. If there is one thing that brings us all together as humans, it's death. And even if manners, decency, and civilization were to be ignored, any human who has experienced loss and felt the pain wouldn't celebrate someone else's. If you don't see the contradiction in the things you say you stand for and your actions, I have nothing more to say to you. As for Charlie, to explain why, for me, he is an honorable man, I would like to quote from what Vlad Savchuck wrote about him: "Many may have seen him as a cultural or political figure, but at the core, he was a preacher of the gospel—unashamed, uncompromising, and passionate about pointing people to Jesus."
