Re: Mrs Sheila Cartwright, Age : 69 years
Mrs Sheila Cartwright who was diagnosed with Unstable diabetes mellitus and small infected left foot ulcer requires overall life style management following the discharge back to your Community Health Centre.
On admission, she had history of Non-insulin dependent diabetes Mellitus since nine years. Gradually her problems increased with self administration of hypoglycaemic medications. She was on Glibenclamide (Glinel) 5mg daily, Metformin (Diabex) 800mg thrice daily, Amoxycillin/Clavulanate (Augmentin Duo forte), 125mg orally twice daily.
She is retired and lives alone. Antibiotic therapy needs to be reviewed for completion of Current Course. Her hypoglycaemic agent needs to be Continued as ordered.
Daily saline dressing of ulcer needs to be done. Signs for Complications and healing process of wound-to be reviewed. Moderate Exercise, pleasure producing activity, Social activity has been encouraged.

A candidate may understand the question and still lose the mark because the final response is unclear, misspelt, wrongly capitalised or incorrectly pluralised.
OET preparation must go beyond “knowing the answer”.

✍️ HANDWRITING & LETTER FORMATION
Your answer must be immediately readable.
Form letters such as L, T, D and I clearly. Dot the “i”. Cross the “t”. Avoid cursive joining when it reduces clarity.
An unreadable correct answer can become a lost mark.
✨ CLARITY BEFORE SPEED.

🔠 CAPITALISATION • 🔡 SINGULAR/PLURAL • 📝 SPELLING
Do not introduce capitals simply because an answer appears in a list or answer box.
One final “s” can change an answer. In Listening, hear the end of the word. In Reading, use the surrounding grammar to decide whether the answer must be singular or plural.
Never guess a spelling you can verify. If the correct word appears in the case notes, question paper or reading text, use the source.

Practise under realistic examination conditions.
Use an OET-style answer sheet and learn to manage space, corrections, presentation and timing.
