[CCJC JC DIALOGUES SPEAKER RECRUITMENT] Dear Law Students, SMU Constitutional Law and Criminal Justice Club (CCJC) is recruiting speakers for a JC Dialogue session with Jurong Pioneer Junior College on 29 July 2026 (3pm - 5pm). As a speaker, you will be in charge of curating the content and delivering the talk to the JC students. The overarching theme to be presented on is “The ethical dilemma of the death penalty”, and the content will be subject to final vetting by the Professors. This is a great chance to give back to the JC community and to enlighten the students on these areas of the law! As an additional perk, pro bono hours will be awarded! [LEXICON 2027 SINGAPORE LAW JOURNAL SUBMISSIONS] Calling all law students, legal practitioners and academics! Interested in publishing a piece on a legal issue you are passionate about? The Singapore Law Journal (SLJ) is an excellent platform to do so! SMU Lexicon is now accepting submissions for the 2027 edition of the SLJ. We are particularly interested in articles and case commentaries about or related to Singapore law. This year, the SLJ will publish on a rolling basis. Articles will be published online once the editorial process is complete, allowing for earlier publication than in previous editions. A compiled edition, likely in print, is expected to be released in July 2027. Please refer to the attached poster for more details. Do submit your particulars and completed piece via email by Thursday, 24 Jul 2026, 1800hrs. [2026 TECHLAW.FEST STUDENT REPORTER SIGNUPS] SMU Lexicon is looking for student writers to report on the 2026 TechLaw.Fest panel discussions and keynote speeches. WHAT AM I EXPECTED TO DO? Student reporters will write reports on the panel discussions and keynote speeches, summarising the key points made by the speakers. All sessions will be recorded, and you will have access to AI-generated transcripts to assist you with the first cut of your reports, which you will then refine and finalise. Student reporters will have to attend the conference physically. Other speakers include lawyers from law firms such as Latham & Watkins, Drew & Napier, and Allen & Gledhill. The conference is expected to attract 2,000 attendees from more than 30 countries. This is an exciting opportunity to hear from experts and network with both attendees and speakers. Further, the report will be published on the TechLaw.Fest website and circulated amongst attendees. Dear students,  🏆 Call for Sign-ups: Asian Environmental Negotiation Competition 2026 SMU Law students are invited to participate in the Asian Environmental Negotiation Competition 2026, hosted by NUS Environmental Law Students Association. AENC 2026 Details: AENC is an international negotiation competition, jointly supported by Allen & Gledhill LLP and the NUS Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law, centred around pressing environmental law issues, both regionally and globally. The competition will be held fully in-person, in Singapore. Competitors will get the opportunity to hone their negotiation abilities against students from other law schools, build commercial awareness and navigate different stakeholders’ interests in solving environmental problems through the negotiation competition.  Problem: Teams will be required to take on the role of a negotiating party in a progressively developing problem in each round. In each round, a set of General Information will be released to all the teams in the round. A set of Confidential Information which will be made available only to each individual team. Teams will be evaluated on their ability to articulate and advocate their stakeholder’s interests, account for the interests of other stakeholders and generate creative and practical solutions. SMU Yong Pung How School of Law is shortlisting students to represent the Yong Pung How School of Law in the Maxwell Challenge to be held in Singapore on 27-30 August 2026 in conjunction with Singapore Convention Week 2026. 📢 Recreation Room Revamp (Roof Level) Dear Law Students, You may have noticed that the Recreation Room is currently in a state of transition. This is part of ongoing improvement works by The Bar as we prepare the space for the upcoming summer period and the next academic term. The aim of these works is to create a more conducive and comfortable resting area for students, while also enhancing storage facilities to better support our sub-clubs and their activities. We are taking this opportunity to relook the layout and functionality of the space so that it can better serve the student body in the months ahead. In the meantime, we seek your understanding to refrain from using the Recreation Room while these works are underway.
